I couldn't pass up the "once in four years" change to run a Math Trade where everyone has an extra day to submit their wants. That way, no one will wait until the 11th hour, right??

This is the DISCUSSION thread for the An Extra Day to Trade in 2016 - US Only Shipping Math Trade. This is a place to discuss the trade, ask questions of the moderator, etc. Please do not use this to call people out publicly or anything like that. Also, please try to limit discussion to topics related to THIS specific Math Trade. If you want to engage in a debate on the merits or politics of math trades in general, this isn't really the thread for that. Thanks!

ALSO: IF you are swinging by to ask a question, great. But if you can, please check the FAQs linked from the main geeklist header first to see if it is covered there, OR read this thread first.

For example, your items don't appear in the OLWLG from the Geeklist until they are manually synced up. This is a question we get about four or five times per trade. We don't mind answering, but to save yourself time, just check out the FAQs. Most things have been covered there. Thanks!

I suppose that's always allowed.

I was just hoping to catch some of the questions so I don't have to explain four times in the thread why someone's posts aren't up on the OLWLG yet.

Because it's always the thing with Matt's trades...

Do you want to clarify the "EDT" thing? Because daylight savings doesn't kick in until mid-March.

Then I'll change it up for you: Why haven't the items I haven't listed yet shown up in the olwlg??

Seeing as gift cards are allowed and we are following BGG protocol for cash value trades, can we list cash/paypal as an option?

Thanks for running this!

EDIT: "Cash" value trades not "Math" value trades.

Hi, this will be my first math trade.
I'll try to use the resources to keep questions to a minimum.

I don't see this math trade in the OLWLG at all.
The only shipping math trade I see listed is a Norwegian one.

Invariably I make a mistake with the time zone entry based upon how the OLWLG imports the data, so I started using EDT. It should be 8pm eastern, but somehow I always goof it up. We'll see what happens when JeffyJeff adds it.

No worries. That's the second most asked question, and I just didn't mention it above because JeffyJeff has been particularly fast of late.

He manually confirms all new Math Trades, so it won't appear until he does that. Usually less than 24 hours. But you can still add items via the BGG Geeklist.

Just like with items added to the geeklist, the OLWLG needs to be manually synced before the trade shows up there.

It'll show up eventually, though. Personally, I'm waiting for that so I can easily add items that didn't trade last time.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen the mods delete a math trade before. Were you given any indication what was wrong with it?
And if you repost, will you give a link to it?

It's not deleted, just hidden while the instructions about gift cards are added to the header (the same as when auctions don't mention the marketplace).

Apparently I used the rules header from two trades ago, before the admin set up the new rule. I must have missed that when I was putting them in.

It's all good now. I added it back in, we should be fine.

So...

It seems that JeffyJeff's rule about "forcing people to ship" was designed because he did not like MT's dictating that he had to ship to AK & HI. But the last several trades have mandated them.

I personally this it got ridiculous with the amount of people blankly stating "lower 48 only" but on the same token, I have zero interest in giving USPS $30 to ship a game that FedEx would deliver to the con US for $15...

Thoughts?

I thought USPS charged the same for AK and HI as for the lower 48. So is the difference just that FedEx or UPS will do lower 48 for less?

That's about right. USPS is the way to go shipping to AK and HI, and can be done surprisingly reasonably.

I'm really hoping we don't have to have this debate again though. I'm so tired guys
