In the grand tradition of BurrEato in November. "Taco Month" was started in 2013 as a compliment to the beloved burrito challenge. It was renamed in 2014 as "Taco de Mayo".

Taco de Mayo is a challenge, a contest, and a celebration of all things taco.

Challenge - Eat 31 Tacos in 31 Days, Beat last year's group total.
Contest - Be the one to eat the most tacos or compete against your close rivals!
Celebration - Share your stories, pictures, and recipes.

Ways to Participate:
Join Taco de Mayo by signing up in the official geeklist!
Talk about Taco de Mayo in this forum thread.

Eat tacos!

Challenge Details:
1. There are 31 days to eat 31 tacos.

I thought I'd get this party started a little earlier this year in an effort to maximize the amount of participation and to give our regular host Amy (a.k.a. Renwmn) time to be involved before she leaves on her exciting trip.

I'll be cross posting this on my Twitter account so we may see an uptick in new participants this year. If any of you post regularly on VGG or RPGG, please cross post this thread there as well.

Okay guys, it's time for my annual Taco de Mayo drawing! Sometime during the first week of May I will draw a random name to win this beautiful shirt:

The current sizes listed range from Men's XS to 3XL. I will order it for the winner after the drawing and have it shipped to their house. Anyone from any part of the world are welcome to join the drawing, but if it is an international winner, I will probably have to ship it to my own house first and then forward it on from there. We'll work it out somehow.

Rules: You must be a participant in the 2016 Taco de Mayo.

To enter, simply tip this post 0.01GG and eat tacos. You're more than welcome to tip more than 0.01GG but there will be only one entry per person. Winners will be selected by my dog during the first week of May and I will announce it on this thread and send the winner a geekmail.

If you don't win, don't blame me, blame this white floofball.

She wishes! She did eat a jalapeno that fell on the floor once.

Oh! I almost forgot, one year I made tiny tacos and set one each on sheets of paper with contest participants' names on them. Whichever taco she ate first was the winner of the shirt that year. She picked Maho that time.

That was a lot of work so last time I used this puzzle system where I mix up all the names written on tiny sheets of paper and then put them randomly inside her dog puzzle with treats on top. Then I placed pegs on top of the puzzle and she had to knock over or slide pegs to get the treats. The name under her first peg was the winner.

Oh yeah-- that sounds much easier than the old, hard way of choosing...

For an extra 0.01 , would you mind rubbing the slip of paper with my name on it on some liverwurst, before hiding it?
Shouldn't take more than a tick of your time.

Well I couldn't just have boring pieces of paper with people's names on them so I searched for pictures that either looked like their avatar or reminded me of their user name and then added their name and made teeny tiny tacos by cutting a tortilla really small and filling it with lettuce and cheese. Yeah ... dont' ask me. I must have been bored that day. laugh

Note to self: change avatar to popular dog food or a juicy steak.

If that doesn't work, the 1 I tipped should do the trick.

I know others suggestions have been put forth multiple times for additional food-themed months... I'm seriously considering adding to the lineup.

Jan: Fajeata (fajitas)
Feb: off
Mar: Marzo Nacho or Nacho Marzo (nachos)
Apr: off
May: Taco de Mayo (tacos)
Jun: off
Jul: Enchilulio (enchiladas)
Aug: off
Sep: Quesepdilla (quesadillas)
Oct: off
Nov: Burreato (burritos)
Dec: off

Why?
Because eating is better than not eating.
Because hungry.
