Please join us Thursday August 4, 2016 for the GenCant-wide game of Karuba!

Nick, from Board,Deck & Dice, will be hosting a game of, the Spiel des Jahres nominated, Karuba live at 7pm EST Thursday night on YouTube. Play along, chat in the chat room with HABA and other players, and share pics of your Karuba adventure. And don’t worry – if you can’t play live, we’ll leave the video up so that you can play along on your own later. And this matters because…

If you play along, you can comment on this thread with a picture of your board for a chance to win a HABA game of your choice(even the brand new The Heroes of Kaskaria!)

• One entry per person (but share as many pics as you’d like)
• Post your picture no later than 3pm EST August 6 for entry
• Score is irrelevant for entry

Can someone document the tile draws as they happen? I most likely will miss the beginning. I'd love to be able to quickly catch up.

Great suggestion. We'll figure out a way to do that.

I will be typing the tiles into the group chat as we go so you should be able to scroll up... I'll upper case them so they are easy to spot.

I'll also post the board set up before hand so you can set your board up earlier if you need to!

Edit: some of the live streaming options may allow me to edit the description live too. I'll test that now and report back.

If we don't have Karuba, can we draw the tiles (draw as in with a pencil on a paper) to play along?

2 I can't officially recommend it () but I'll be sure to give proper descriptions of the tiles and their orientations!

Nice! What is the grid by the way? And I know there are some diamonds or something that go on some of them, right? Please be sure to tell us which ones. Also, aren't there point chips as well? How would we go about making those? (sorry for the questions, but I would like to know how I can get involved without actually owning the game)

of COURSE you can play on paper if you want to go to that effort. i welcome that kind of participation.

and yes, i will accept hand-drawn boards as an entry to the HABA prize.

I cannot provide files etc to make your board, you're on your own there. But I think it's a clever way to participate.

Eden - some tiles have gems printed on them. When you draw your tile, you could just draw a circle for the clear gem and triangle for the gold gem. Then, if you manage to claim it, you could just cross it out.

I do hope that I will manage to make my play set in time and then find the time to play

Yes I will post starting spots tomorrow with an essential rules video. Temples only go along the top and right edges, people along the left and bottom.

However I am tipping your ass a geekgold for that effort!!

Hello! the pre event important rules and starting positions are up!

I did some further testing last night and I will be travelling to my friends house for around 5pm EST to do final tests and utilize his superior broadband.

If you are about at that time, say hello, give feedback and have a chat before the official kick off!

Looking forward to it!

Here's the description from the vid in case you are unable to watch it -

Important rules to remember:
- Tiles placed correct way only
- You can block off paths
- Meeples cannot share spaces or leap over each other!

Starting positions (remember meeples on the beach, temples on the forrest!):

Blue Meeple - 50 Blue Temple - 60
Purple Meeple - 20 Purple Temple - 100
Brown Meeple - 80 Brown Temple - 10
Yorange Meeple - 110 - Yorange Temple - 30

Scoring adaption - Scoring of temples will decrease every nine rounds. In rounds 1-9 temples are worth 5 points, rounds 10-19 4 points and so on!

Is there any way you can take a picture of the board with or without the meeples and temples? I can't find a picture of the board with the degrees to place them on. Please?
