I will be visiting Frankfurt in a few weeks and was wondering where I could find any board game stores.

Any suggestions on local releases?

Thanks!

You can try to ask in the german Spielbox-Forum. They had the same question there once but I guess you will get some more detailed answers if you ask again yourself...

Here are the links
http://www.spielbox.de/phorum4/read.php4?f=1&i=133675&t=1336...&
http://www.spielbox.de/phorum4/read.php4?f=1&i=129068&t=1290...& (in german but more detailed)

Hope that helps,
Simon

I know that in the Zeil Galerie is a game shop:

Apart from that maybe try the yellow pages.

According to Simons second thread on Spielbox, the Zeilgalerie shop has not the best reputation - it is said to be expensive, have crabby staff and bad service.

Unfortunately, there is no classic FLGS in Frankfurt...

If you search the forums for 'Frankfurt', you'll find lots of threads with useful information.

My personal preference is to check out the department stores in hopes of bargains. See this thread:

Enjoy your visit!

I had a fine experience in the Ziel Galerie shop. They had a much better selection than the department stores, and the prices weren't crazy. That being said, the department stores in Germany are the way to go for big name games. You can often find them quite cheap. Every year I go around Christmastime, and you can find the Spiel des Jahres for 10-15 Euro, and other good deals. They generally have acceptable selection (not quite as good as a true game store..) and you also get to look at cool lego displays (which seem ubiquitous in Kaufhofs.)

Another option is to look for a game or hobby store. In Munich there is Obletter, which is a great toy store that also has a massive games section, and another store whose name escapes me that is more a hobby store, but has a nice game section as well. Maybe Frankfurt has something analagous to those.
