Subject: PLEASE READ: A Request from the Designer/Publisher Regarding Spoilers

So I know we're all adults here, and we've all been hanging out on internet forums for as long as we can remember, but I just wanted to emphasize that there are a great many things in this game that I want players to discover and experience for themselves, rather than reading about it here first, so please think before you post, and make sure to give proper spoiler warnings for anything you write, ideally hiding anything spoiler-related in spoiler tags. There's a little "SP" button in the dashboard for that, two spots over from the "Insert Geek Link" drop-down menu.
So what exactly is spoiler-related?
1. Any character class other than the six starting classes. This gets a little tricky since even naming the class is a spoiler, but all classes have an icon you can use to reference them, or you can reference them by their numerical order they are found in the box (going from right to left) or the order listed in the FAQ thread (for instance, Brute would be class 1, Tinkerer class 2, Spellweaver class 3, etc.).
2. The contents of all the smaller envelopes, especially envelope X and everything that entails. Seriously, let people discover this on their own. I would strongly prefer you not discuss clues related to envelope X at all in the forums. If someone really wants help, talk through GeekMail.
3. Items and item abilities past what is initially made available in the game. Every item has a number on the back of the card. Reference them using that.
4. Events and event outcomes. If you have a question, events also have a number on the bottom center of their front side to reference them by.
5. Any plot points or story elements found in the scenario book or town records. Please reference all scenarios by their number.
Lastly, there is a FAQ forum here, perfectly safe from spoilers using a liberal dose of spoiler tags. If you have a question about something specific, please look at that first to make sure the answer is not already available before starting a new thread.
Thanks!

Re: PLEASE READ: A Request Regarding SpoilersI thumb this up... but wanted to emphasis as well with a big +1 to this.
This forums are my major to go with rules questions, no understanding a mechanic or such... I`m one of those that try to avoid spoilers (though I succumb and read the rulebook at some point in details, and then saw the 6 main characters) so please please please... warning for spoilers, include the SPOILER warning in the thread tile

Re: PLEASE READ: A Request Regarding SpoilersIsaac,
You may want to revise the title of this thread to say "A Request from the publisher and designer regarding spoilers" so that people are more likely to read it. Or something to that effect, anyway.
That makes it instantly recognizable that the message is from you, not just from a fellow gamer.

Re: PLEASE READ: A Request Regarding SpoilersCan we have sticky threads over here on BGG? Then this thread should be a sticky one. As should the FAQ thread be.

Re: PLEASE READ: A Request Regarding SpoilersWhat should we be concerned about when opening/unpacking the box? ie. glancing at the monster cards or stickers. Are there major spoilers there?

Are there major spoilers there?Sort of. When you punchout all the monster standees, you will see them. Try not to look too closely. If you are crazy like me, then make up lots of little envelopes for all the different types of enemies and put all the standees, monster ability cards, and monster stat card.
That way, when your group first meets them, you have more envelopes to open, and things are kept secret from the other players.
I've also done the same with the items that the town has at later prosperity levels.

I'm sure this suggestion will help towards getting people to read this thread in the first place.

So, are you going to destroy cards that are meant to be destroyed after use?

I'm just reading through the rulebook and on page 39 it says that some cards are "removed from the game" and it has an icon that looks like a card being ripped in half. So "remove from the game" doesn't literally mean "destroy this card"?
- [+] Dice rolls
- No, it's just an icon.

Yeah, just throw it in the box. Nothing requires that you destroy a card.
