Hi everyone,
I will be going to Florence and Rome and was wondering if anyone knows of any good boardgame stores in either Florence or Rome? Any help would be appreciated.

I was in both those cities last year for my honeymoon.

Stratagemma in florence was nice, you can see the duomo from the door. (good sandwich place on that street as well called toast)

In Rome I went to Avalon Roma. Closest one to the tourist bits.

My wife indulges me while travelling by visiting game stores.

I was surprised to learn that it's almost been a decade since my trip to Italy.

I will second Stratagemma. When I was there, there was a small 'loft' that had just enough room for a couple shelves with board games on it. Found my copy of Capitol there when it was hard to find.

Didn't find anything really in Rome, but by then we had gotten a bit sick.

I went to Italy last summer and found a lot of more interesting things to do rather than visit game stores. I mean seriously... you're in Italy, are you really going to waste any time looking at a game store? It's all going to be overpriced stuff anyway.

The shop in Florence is right across from a lot of dress and shoe shops, so it also a good place to hide out if you have a spouse spending money on Italian Fashion (and as a bonus they can't complain when you buy a game).

If you end up taking an excursion to Venice, the game shop there is owned by the designers of War of the Ring, etc.

Exactly this. Stop in for a bit and look around. It is a really neat store. It makes for a nice stop after you hit the Duomo in the morning but before you go for lunch.

Is this still a good call? I'll be going to the same both cities next month.

yes, I was there last year to both stores. I really like Stratagemma a lot. Avalon Roma is solid.
