The Seattle P-I has a terrific article on Blue Highway, Seattle's newest game store, and boardgaming in general, on the front page of the business section this morning. Nice big picture, and a map too.

It's a great article and a nice picture of the store. But I'm shocked! The P.I. giving positive coverage to brazen capitalists! All the senior editors must be on vacation.

It's a pretty nice place. A little dark in the back, but it was a hot day I was in there, and they didn't have the lights on. Very spacious. Just hope they can make enough to cover the overhead. Rent's got to be nuts there...

It is a nice place. But, if you're not familiar with the area, be prepared to spend A LOT of time trying to find the place. Get a REAL map and plan it out (don't be like me and think you have a pretty good idea where it is...). It's worth the trip. I live about 40 miles away, but I hope to go there once a month for some serious gaming.

Sigh, just 10 years late. In college I lived about 5 blocks away (3rd Ave N. and Newton)

We stopped by yesterday and the place looks great. I hope they succeed. The place was easy to find (IMHO), parking was another matter.

Seattle area gamers should consider supporting this store.

Me cries at the fact that I live in rural america. Any game I want must come from wal-mart or the internet.

P.S. I loathe anyone who lives in the Seattle area now. I have to travel 200 miles to find a store like this angry

I'll try to be there as well. Looks like a nice setup. Queen Anne rents must be crazy though.

I think it would have been funny if that was the title of the article.

"Seattle's Newest Game Store Makes Front Page of Biz Section"

The accomplishment that got them on the front page was getting on the front page for getting on the front page for... I'm shutting up now.

Most excellent! This is the way a game store should be. Loaded with selection, clean, bright, and inviting. I wish them the best and hope other retailers see this model and go with it.

Thursday afternoon...I will be there....and I'll support your FLGS.

This will be my first stop after getting off the airplane (well, maybe my second.....first will be getting a good cup of coffee.

What other cool stores are in the neighborhood worth visiting?

I was there last week. Nice, bright, friendly and well located. But would I really go there to play a game? Would I really shop there instead of online? Probably not. But that's not the issue. What they've done is create a great store for people new to gaming. I think they've made some great decisions about what they stock, the way the store is configured, and the approach they take to inviting customers to try games; all of which make it a welcoming place for new gamers to shop. (I also suspect that they may not be urgently concerned about the bottom line, which may keep them in business longer than they might otherwise be able.)

Went there.....nice store....lots of games to play and plenty of room.

Very nice setup, very friendly. Had to educate the owner about BGG and boardgamenews.com

I've posted this elsewhere, but thought I should post here as well:

I checked out Blue Highway Games in Queen Anne Yesterday (Monday 11 August 2008) and I must say it is a beautiful store! Gorgeous wooden floors and attractive shelving, etc. Nice selection of games split in interest sections (i.e. eurogames, childrens games, "mainstream" games, etc.) It has a split level gaming area that looks quite welcoming. I went up to the second level to find two attractive and large wooden tables. It was a bit hot up there, however. Looks like they have a decent game library for people to come in and play. I talked to one of the owners and was told they now have regular scheduled game events, including a Saturday morning Pokemon tournament well attended by kids, and lots of people using their game space on weekends. Nice store!
