A video I just made which discusses easy ways to be your own GM might be of interest to members. As there doesn't seem to be a way to post a video to guild itself, I'm putting the link here. (If there is a way to link a video to the guild itself, please let me know.)

Very cool! I just started listening to it. I will have to finish it later.

You could always add it to the top of the page as a wiki. It will be a shame if this post disappears down to page 2 and the lower levels of the for.

Hey Albert. I love your podcast and listen to almost every episode!
Thanks for the comment and idea. I have no idea how to do what you just suggested but I will try to figure it out tomorrow.
EDIT: thanks Reverend Uncle Bastard!

Great Video. I like how you've organized GM resources into 4 basic categories. And your use of books, and re-purposing existing games, are both great tips. I'll need to try that.

I've enjoyed your other videos as well, keep up the good work.

I will echo one of the comments posted on YouTube: I would pay to sit in on this session as a workshop on "How to Get Started with Solo RPG's." Really a great presentations. Well organized, demonstrated, and paced. Lots of good stuff for those of use feeling our way around the world of Solo'ing. Thanks.

Thanks so much Joseph. I really appreciate your comments and I’m glad you enjoyed the material. Based on what some people have said, at a later date I I might make a short video showing an example of a “turn.” I would also of course discuss the various decisions made along the way and options for play.

It won’t be for a bit, however, as I would need to have something running (which I don’t right now) and dip into the middle of it for the video to be meaty enough. Maybe that’s a summer project for when the kids are at camp.

A video that demonstrates what literacy teachers call "thinking out loud" while demonstrating what a player does while solo'ing an RPG is really the next big step in helping players learn how to do this. Hoping you get a peaceful summer and thus an opportunity to show us the next step.

Great video! I especially appreciate your insight on customizing the rulesets to fit your play style. Why worry about detailed rules for a mechanic or system that you don't want to use (magic vs combat, etc.).

I too would love to take more of your "solo rpg classes" when they are offered next semester. whistle

You got it. I will think about how best to demonstrate this and maybe it won’t even take until the summer.
