I've found the 3 nuclear markers included with the game to be unnecessary. I wish they'd provided more high-value influence markers instead of the nuclear and event markers.
Those markers are used for indicating regions where coups and realignments are forbidden due to DEFCON.
Anyway, here's a simple variant I propose to make use of the chits:
US starts with the 3 nuclear markers. Any time a die is rolled, the US player may discard 1 nuclear marker to re-roll it.
In lieu of any other starting extras for the US. What do you guys think?
There is a similar power on the official alternate Space Race track (Ballistic Missile). A player re-roll one coup per turn.
