Hey all,

I'm coming to NY city in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anybody out there could give me a recomendataion on where i should go to buy board and war games.

I'm going to be in Manhattan so anywhere there - or near there - would be preferrable.

Ideally I'm after a shop that has a great selection and perhaps has sales occassionally.

Thanks in advance,
Qwam.

No.

Go shopping, don't buy.

Stores are at MSRP or higher, and the tax is 8.5%.

Okay, let's start the meeting. My name is Ken, and I'm a Tichu addict.

Hey, be sure to check the New York Boardgames Meetup Group's Calendar. They play at Neutral Ground Gaming Room on every other Thursday.
It's located at:
122 W 26th St 4th Floor
New York, NY 10001
212-633-1288

Neutral Ground Gaming Room is an okay store. The board game prices are high and the selection is shrinking.

The best store, for boardgames, I found in Manhattan is The Compleat Strategist

The Compleat Strategist New York City Location
11 East 33rd Street (between Madison and Fifth Avenue)
New York, NY 10016
212-685-3880
Hours: Monday-Wednesday - 10:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Friday-Saturday - 10:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Thursday - 10:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Sunday - Closed

It does charge full price for games but they have a great selection and you get your game right away and that's the way New Yorkers like it.

If you're feeling like saving a few bucks and waiting for your games to be delivered to your door; the on-line stores are the way to go.

FunAgain Games , RC Hobbies and ThoughtHammer are the on-line shops I have been pleased with.

You can compare prices at a lot more sites by using the price finders:

(best for comparing prices)
