Since music is so prominently featured on the show, I thought it might be fun to hear what everyone is currently listening to. Post who currently has your ear's attention, and if you like post a link to a song or two, so that others can enjoy. Let's see who all shows up.

Personally, I like some strange stuff, and lately, I have really been listening to a lot of the 5000 year old funk band, known as, Here Come the Mummies. These guys (or gals) play better than a lot of folks 1/1000th of their age . Enjoy!

I think this is gonna get rather eclectic here ...

Some Pink Floyd love first ...

Some inspiration from HBO's Westworld ...

Some brass friendly Gustav Holst ...

And finally, some Jimmy Buffett (Parrotheads unite!)

Really hoping / looking forward to seeing if

These days it’s Djenty/Metal stuff, Proggy stuff, relaxing ambient stuff, and video game soundtracks mostly

Right now the top two songs for me are:

... because of the awesome chopper-style rapping. And

Because it's a lovely song that reminds me of college.

Some good (and super diverse) songs coming from the pegheads. Here are my 3 top songs at the moment:

A very 90s music video, but one hell of a song. RIP Phife Dawg

This one is not a very recent song, but I've been jamming on it recently. (One instance of the F bomb)

And finally, though it hurts my heart to only pick one song from Animal Collective or it's members (Panda Bear is my favorite artist of all time), I chose this one. It has some good things to say about views of women in society (One more instance of the F bomb):

LP is an amazing performer. Their awareness of the mic, and using distance to create effect is really cool. Their songs carry a lot of emotional weight, while having a catchy vibe as well.

I love both of these songs. Both have the same title, and carry a big punch, yet are from 2 different decades.

Lastly is this impactful hiphop song. I heard it on the radio all the time and hated it as a kid. It wasn't until much later when I could really appreciate the message mixed with the strong rhythms.

I mainly listen to Irish/Celtic music, particularly Celtic Thunder & Celtic Woman.

Also enjoy the classics like Vivaldi's Four Seasons

And love sleeping to some Solitudes

That Handsome Devil- Charlies Inferno

This band is a new upcomer for me even though they have been around, I just discovered them. Others include Jack White (best live shows ever), Izzy and the Catastrophics (Rockabilly), The Fratellis and The Devil Makes Three (Specifically the song Old #7 but that whole album is good).

All right!!! Resident music theorist here! Here's what I've been listening to:

I'm currently enjoying a new game+ of Persona 5 and can't get enough of this absolutely fantastic soundtrack!

I also love Weird Al and recently saw him live during his recent tour! I even got to borrow an accordion from a student and started learning how the instrument works (spoiler alert: it's all about the circle of fifths!). Now I get to use that whenever I teach sequences and harmonic patterns!

I'm also teaching an online music analysis class right now and getting ready to start week 3, which is all early romantic music! Which means Schubert!!! Here's some of the music I'll be listening to for that:

As far as popular music goes, you can't get any better than Shiina Ringo and Tokyo Jihen!

I should probably stop there...need some board game/music mashups, let me know!

Some others that have been finding their way onto my playlist time and again are these.

And finally, because of The Dice Steeple podcast, I discovered this group.

This is an awesome thread! Thanks, everyone. The absence of music is the first thing I'll notice anywhere I go.

I'm definitely a music ON gamer, that's for sure. The NO MUSIC gamers usually win out, though, since they can't do both. Unless they're at R.A.G.E! They have no choice.

My tastes in music tend to be a bit eclectic, but I don't mind sharing. First off, I have to post Stromae. He has been a big deal in Europe for a while but not nearly so in the US:

This next group is definitely not family friendly but they are phenomenal performers and that is Run the Jewels:

I still regularly listen to 70s funk like Curtis Mayfield:

Finally, if I need something moody and atmospheric, then I play M83:

A song that's taken on new meaning to me in May:

My favorite song ever, I've gone down the Queen rabbit hole again since the Bohemian Rhapsody trailer released:

Don't know why I've been taken so much by this song, but I've found new love for it. Probably my favorite George Michael song:

After binging Cobra Kai in one sitting yesterday:

A song that's been a staple for me for the last couple of years:

Honestly, I listen to podcasts more now during times when I can listen to something, but these will always get me into a Spotify state of mind.

I'm listening to some really good southern rock by a new band, Bishop Gunn.

Full Disclosure, my cousin is the drummer and I'm damn impressed by his band.
