I’ve been watching “Qin empire” on Netflix, this would be a superb addition to CC ancients. I wonder if anyone with knowledge of this epoch has the ability to generate about 12-18 scenarios and if Mr Mcgowen could be convinced to do sticker art for these troops. (Thinking terra cotta army). Block color maybe Ivory and coral or teal/jade or something similar. Any thoughts?

Sounds awesome to me. My group and I have been discussing an Ancient-Medieval Chinese iteration as well.

When I had met RB a number of years ago and he had told me the Chinese and India regions had been planned out... how thoroughly developed I did not ask.

I think it takes a bit more thought than setting up scenarios (and lets face it, the dispositions for most Ancients battles are a guess), and deciding on a colour.

How would the Armies be different? What is the character of the Chinese Ancients battles that will make these battles distinctive?

Battle of Changping seems to be a well known battle, and maybe a model to look at.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Changping

Chariots seem to be a big deal, and this gives a rough guide to the army composition. Crossbow rules can be stolen from BattleLore.

Interesting, considering GMT just announced (July 20, 2018 update) that a new C&C game is forthcoming on their P500 list. Maybe Chinese and/or Indian is it.

That ran across my mind too... but I’d still go with Samurai Battles being P500 because GMT only needs to redresss the scenarios and artwork, they can also see the SB community is still active..

Word is that it is Samurai Battles, but Armies will have more units, the maps will be bigger.
https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2028655/light-gmt-front

however, that game might well be a better fit for the Warring States of China over Ancients.

Armies of the Warring States
I was interested enough to look back into a book I had, Soldiers of the Dragon by C.J. Peers
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/815844.Soldiers_of_the_D...

on page 40-41 it gives these characterisations by Wu Ch'i and Sun Tzu;

Ch'in (Qin) - recklessly brave, to the point of berserk. Also mentioned as using a good deal of Hu (Barbarian) cavalry. Ill disciplined.

Ch'u (Zhou) - lazy and lacking stamina. Good weaponry, but poorly trained.

Yen - stupid and honest. no strategy, prefer defense.

Ch'i - (Qi)unreliable, poorly led with corrupt govt and no loyalty

Han, Wei and Chao (Zhao) - well organised but war weary. Poor officers (in both pay and training).

You just put 52 episodes of Netflix Q’in dynasty soap into a single paragraph...... not a stellar TV effort, but it was entertaining for a couple of weeks.....
