There are several purposes for this math trade.
1. So Jake Roussel can test changes to his "Better OLWLG - A Chrome Extension for Pleasant Trading"
2. So new math traders can gain experience w/out any risk
3. So I (Jeff) can test using item id's for lot names (see this thread for more info)
4. So I (Jeff) can test new leftovers math trade functionality. This differs from old styled leftover math trades where a new geeklist is created and you have to copy all your items you still want to trade and recreate your want lists. Instead it uses the same geeklist on BGG but in the OLWLG it shows up as a new math active math trade. Items which previously traded will be ignored (those using "copies" functionality and not all copies traded will be tentatively ignored until you edit those items to update the number of copies you are offering this time around).

Do note that the OLWLG will still display the index in the 1st column of step 3 (viewlist) but you will notice the indexes aren't sequential because of the ignore previously traded items.

Special rule for this mock test math trade... I may lock down the geeklist and do final sync before the deadline and turn on want list submissions (and hence also change that deadline) if it looks like we have enough new items and hopefully from some new users.

This is a MOCK math trade. NO trading will actually occur and the results will be null and void. This is just to make sure traders in the BGG community are comfortable with the OLWLG.

The geeklist for this math trade is at

Mock Test Leftovers Math Trade

or go straight to the OLWLG

http://bgg.activityclub.org/olwlg/

NOTE: you may see replies that seem to indicate this MT was over... that was the original MT... we are now in Leftover mode and alive and active

Is it worth clearly spelling out what a "mock" math trade is, so there are no questions? I assume it means that no trades will actually happen. So people are free to add any item, and want any item, with zero risk. It's just for practice and fun.

Re: Mock Test Math Trade early Oct 2018
could someone else add

%Options%
Copies: 2
%End%

to one of their items? I'm also testing using item id's for lot names and want to make sure the items using the copies option that the auto generated dummy items are being generated properly

thanks in advance!

I was going to enter some items on this one, but I'll be honest the wall of instructions (which I was too lazy to read) felt like it was more than a mock trade and I didn't want to accidentally get roped into something I had to actually make trades in.

Jut a hunch, but I would venture a guess it was for the low turn out on it.

You may be right about the turnout.

If it helps anyone, you can always add items to a math trade with no risk. The only time you *might* commit to trading anything is if you check the boxes saying that you'll trade X for Y. (And in the case of the OLWLG, you also have to Submit your wants, although with Abecorn that step is automatic.)

Re: Mock Test Math Trade early Oct 2018
the instructions are a cut/paste from my boiler plate which obviously grew over a decade of math trading where if you don't state it up front someone will try to do it (poach, arbitrage, etc) ... though they could use a good reformatting/tuning

This really should be in the geeklist's header, too, and bold, in order not to confuse anybody!

Re: Mock Test Math Trade early Oct 2018
a couple of you who are subscribed via the olwlg for when the geeklist is synced by the organizer may be wondering why you are getting them for this one...

.... I'm making changes so that a "leftovers" math trade can be done using the same geeklist as the original... preserving folks wants and everything but ignoring when syncing the geeklist those items which already traded... and tentatively ignoring those items that were using "copies" olwlg functionality until the owners of those items edits their items (in theory adjusting the count)

the way I'm implementing it in theory an organizer could keep having leftover MT's on a prior leftovers MT... each time folks would have to submit their wants if they want to participate even if they don't change their wants.

I added a thing, a thing with sweeteners, an Outside the Scope thing, and a thing with copies. That's all the different kinds of things I can think of that I normally list.

Should someone delete an item, to prove that works fine, and encourage the adoption of rules allowing it?

sure go ahead... though if you delete an item that traded last time it may not prove much

With software, you never know! I just deleted one that traded and one that didn't.

Hmmm, just got an email notifying of new items, but when I click on the Add button next to any entry, it doesn't do anything (tried in Chrome and Firefox).

yea I just noticed that a few minutes ago to when a one click add didn't work... checking browser console syntax error...

var geeklist = 246521V2;

obviously with non-digits now in the geeklist I had to add quotes around it... so should be working now

bummer though yours was the only partly traded item so won't be able to test that it will auto comment the item out when you submit your want lists... or that if edit it that on next sync it will no longer be a partly traded item

oh well, the Argentina leftovers has 2 of them... I'll just keep an eye on that trade
