Hello folks,

I started the Sightless Fun blog back in June 2018 to talk about how blind and visually impaired people play board games with the hopes of introducing board games to more people who suffer from visual impairments.

Last month I started a podcast, too and today we published episode 2 where we talk about the visual accessibility of Sagrada. In our first episode, we talked about Secret Hitler and how smartphone apps can help improve accessibility of some games.

You can find the podcast at: https://sightless.fun/podcast/

I'd really appreciate some comments and criticism as that would help us improve the quality of the show. You can email me at sightlessfun@outlook.com or you can also find me on twitter @SightlessFun - https://twitter.com/sightlessfun

Nyctophobia - Visual Accessibility Analysis
I just posted a visual accessibility analysis for Nyctophobia. Here's the short intro to the post:

Nyctophobia is a tactile maze game designed by Catherine Stippel. She designed this game to play it with her blind uncle, so the visual accessibility was extremely important from the early stages of the development of this game.

I see Nyctophobia frequently mentioned on Reddit threads whenever someone asks for board game recommendations to play with a blind friend, or whenever the topic of playing board games as a blind individual comes up. In this post, I’ll take a look at the visual accessibility of a game that turns a disability into a game mechanic. Furthermore, another interesting thing about this game is that sighted players get to taste the challenges of playing a board game without relying on their eyesight,

Episode 4 - Pandemic & Quarterbacking

In Episode 4, I talks about how I plays Pandemic without vision. The topic that is covered in this episode is commonly talked about, especially by those who dislike cooperative games. I try to show that by introducing mechanics to mitigate quarterbacking, board games become less accessible to the blind and visually impaired.
