What prompted this thread was this piece of news: Renegade has announced a new line of games designed for just one player.

"The Solo Hero series will kick off with Proving Grounds, a real-time solitaire dice game designed by FUSE and Flatline creator Kane Klenko.

Proving Grounds is a real-time solitaire dice game that merges narrative and gameplay in a brand-new way. In this box, you will find a novella, "Only the Strongest Has the Heart of a Wizened Queen", written by Monica Valentinelli. This sweeping story sets the stage for the events of the game. Read the story of Maia Strongheart as she fights to ascend to the Sun Throne, then recreate her extraordinary battle!"

Agreed, at first look at the announcement I was interested. Real Time Solo seems kinda dumb.

Here is Noctiluca by Z-Man Games.

"In Noctiluca, 104 colorful dice fill the pool on the game board to represent the different glowing noctiluca. Players will take turns diving in to the water from the edges of the shore to collect the noctiluca dice from the board and keep them safely in jars until they can deliver them to healers. After two rounds, players will compare points from their successful deliveries and the player with the most points will win".

It strikes me that the protagonists of Realm of Sand would have a much easier time reconstructing their realm if they worked with the protagonists of Fine Sand.

Games that have my attention so far:
Aerion
Fine Sand

Futuropia would have made the list if the solo mode didn't sound like the designer was saying ....Well technically you can play it solo but the solo mode is more like a tutorial for learning the game before you play it with more people leading to repeated solo plays to being more than likely a boring experience...

This is a sequel/re-skinning of The Lost Expedition, so take that for what you will.

I thoroughly enjoyed TLE and like the theme, so I'll pick this one up too
