I have been living in Charlotte, NC for the last year, and have yet to find anything much in the way of FLG. Anybody have any store recommendations for this area?

I also live in the Charlotte area, about 1 year too, but haven't found any FLGS either. In Southern Pines there is one called hitpointhobbies which has a bunch of the games but that is about 90 mintues east. Raliegh has a store also, but alas no "L" in the FLGS

South Charlotte has Underground Games ( http://www.undergroundgamesofcharlotte.com/ ) They have a limited selection of board games and their prices aren't cheap. They focus mainly on miniature table top gaming.

Fort Mill (just south of Charlotte) has Above Board Games ( http://aboveboardgames.net/ ) with a little better selection but still a focus on miniature table top gaming.

Games HQ ( http://www.gameshqonline.com/ )is located on Freedom Drive near I-85 (Northwest Charlotte) but I have not had a chance to visit it yet.

I hope that helps some. Queen City Gamers is also a gaming group in your area if you are interested. We are quite active and have a good selection of games amongst the group. Check this page out for more info: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/guild/153

Thanks for all the quick replies.

I have visited Underground games and also thought it was very miniature heavy, which I am not too into. I did pick up one of the miniatures from Wings of War though.

When I first arrived in Charlotte I went too Above Board Games in Fort Mill. I wasn't very impressed, but I got the impression they had just opened so maybe I should go back.

Thanks for the heads up to Games HQ, I'll definitely give them a visit.

Parker Banner Kent and Wayne in Cornelius has quite a few board games and has open games on Friday nights where you can get in a game or two with different people.

I've never been there myself, but I don't think it would be excessive shilling to post a link to your store's website, since it is relevant to the thread: http://www.pbkwcomics.com/
