The fun of kickstarter is ordering the game and the novelty of following the process. Something new every day! An interesting topic to follow in your boring life. Playing the game isn't what it's about.

I truly wish that I did know what this comic is talking about. I usually get 1 new game per year, 2 if I'm really lucky. Hence my "Cult o' the Old" geekbadge.

7th Continent is shipping to customers, and yet my expansions are not in hand, and I might still have to wait a month!

At least all my other campaigns are still umming and ahhing about exactly when they'll be delivered (except KD, whose only announcement since November is that they'll tell us something in August...)

I'm not worried about the money I've spent, or playing the games (I've played all my KS games, and will continue to do so), I'm more worried about my wife's reaction when I run out of shelf space and need to spread out around the house!

This is not even funny anymore, just lame. Because in order to be funny, you need to have at least some grain of truth somewhere.
The vast majority of Kickstarter boardgames deliver exactly as promised (and usually not more than a few months late).
The ones with serious problems are very, very rare exceptions.

Writing something like this just reflects ignorance about the actual reality of the boardgames industry, nothing more.

That is simply not true, they are exceptions, but not very, very rare, about as rare as those that deliver on time or early. The vast majority do deliver only a few to several months late, but they are late.

A couple of years after discovering Kickstarter I now know the names and current positions of half the container ships going out of China... Coincidence?

That reminds me that I got to update my "preordered" list...
