Starting a game now... Somehow I must have missed in the rules that describe the benefit of making a fire. Why should I make a fire?

Thanks

Two major effects:

1) it costs one less card to move to a terrain with fire, and
2) spoiler if you haven't hunted yet
Spoiler (click to reveal)
you get extra cards when eating cooked food.

At some point you should come across something that will tell you that it goes better with fire than without!!

Expect this with a lot of things. Understand the mechanics and just play the game - the deeper rules will reveal themselves to you as you play.

The main benefit has already been mentioned, but another more minor one is that it allows you to get rid of a Freezing state.

Like with most things, the game will tell you so.
Don’t stress things

Technically it's 1 less card per character moving to the fire.

Ah! That was my question really. I thought we were cheating a bit to use -2 (we are playing 2 with players). But that is correct?

Each player has a brown icon with the discount. You may use as many brown icons as you have available for any action using said icon.
Note that you cannot use that discount when using the snowshoe icon to move, as the icon is only for a Walk action.

Tip #2 - don't bother to post about experience points.. the game will tell you when you can use them!

As with many other things..
