Hey all,
I'm heading to Austin this week for a conference. I'll be staying downtown (without a car) Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. Any advice on good places to do some gaming, and/or just cool stuff to do?

Thanks in advance,
-Jeff

*P.S. not above using Uber of Lyft or taking a cab, I just don't have as much freedom as if I had a car of my own on the trip.

Hey Jeff!

Quote:
Any advice on good places to do some gaming,
Tribe Comics & Games is probably the closest shop that has a play area, not sure what events they have on the weekends.

Vigilante Bar is further north, but they have an extensive library and the bar is split, party side with long family style tables and a gamer side with 4 person gaming tables. Plus, food and drinks.

Dragon's Lair is probably the largest shop in Austin.

and/or just cool stuff to do?
Kayak on Lady Bird Lake/Colorado River (we use Rowing Dock, but there are many)
Pinballz Arcade (up north again)
VR Arcade (Originator Studios)
Peter Pan Mini Golf (BYOB)

On Friday night there's a heavy board game meetup at The Gaming Goat.

It's not downtown, but it's worth the drive. On top of the meetup, their prices are usually equal to or even less than Amazon!

If you are downtown, I recommend The Escape Game. Get a few people to go with you (you will need to make reservations)...you'll likely be within walking distance or a short Uber ride away.

Another option without a car is to grab a couple of people and take the Metro Rail from the convention center stop to the Crestview stop. There, you will be right next to Vigilante Gastropub and Games.

https://vigilantebar.com/about/

This place has a huge library of games with custom built gaming tables that accommodate food and beer.

Have fun in Austin.

Edit: Apparently the downtown rail station is under construction this summer so you'll need to take an Uber or Lyft. However, it is still only a 15 min ride and I would recommend it as a fun option.
