I'm in Seattle for the weekend and was wondering if there were any good game stores here.

Where are you located? If you are in the city, try Blue Highway Games on Upper Queen Anne.

Good selection, great staff, a decent library and tables to play.

Berserk Games and Gary's Games are on Greenwood Ave N at 72nd St. 85th St., respectively. This is in the Greenwood district, north of the bridges, and just northwest of Green Lake.

Berserk is really well-stocked, as I think they have an online store. Gary's is more random, but more fun to browse. If you can't find parking on Greenwood, there's a huge Fred Meyer parking lot just west of Greenwood Ave N on 85th St.

Expensive however. But it is pretty nice and pretty full service.

If you're willing to go up north towards Lynnwood, Pheonix Games has a new location and it's really nice. Huge selection, clean, well lit, and the guy there deffinitely knows his stuff.

Also, here's a list of stores in the Seattle area:

In the last few times I've been out to Seattle I've stopped at Gary's Games, Berserk Games and Uncle's, as well as a couple of places down in the Puyallup/Tacoma area (Game On and Game Matrix). I'm not sure what your criteria for "good game store" is, but each of those places had a much bigger selection than any of the few game stores we have here in the Tri-Cities, so I'm sure you're good to go with any of those stores, or Blue Highway, as others have mentioned (I haven't made it there yet).

We ended up stopping by here and it was a wonderful store. A very decent selection and well laid out/well lit etc. Unfortunately we didn't have any time to stop by the other stores. Maybe next trip. Thanks for the suggestions.

I checked out Blue Highway Games in Queen Anne Yesterday (Monday 11 August 2008) and I must say it is a beautiful store! Gorgeous wooden floors and attractive shelving, etc. Nice selection of games split in interest sections (i.e. eurogames, childrens games, "mainstream" games, etc.) It has a split level gaming area that looks quite welcoming. I went up to the second level to find two attractive and large wooden tables. It was a bit hot up there, however. Looks like they have a decent game library for people to come in and play. I talked to one of the owners and was told they now have regular scheduled game events, including a Saturday morning Pokemon tournament well attended by kids, and lots of people using their game space on weekends. Nice store!

Laura, you're really not supposed to self-promote on the forums.

Well, on the off chance that a mod deletes her post, I'll mention it. I don't have any connection to the store other than my huge excitement. And I do think it is in the spirit of the "don't self promote" to mention the store coming in a thread about area stores. Starting a new thread would be more of a problem. I actually came to BGG just now to mention it anyway.

My mom called to tell me that a game store is opening just up the street from her in West Seattle! This will be great for when we go back and visit. I've been wondering when a cafe game store would open in the area, so many people that need to play games!
