By popular demand I've set up the virtual stock market for the 2008 SdJ.

The market correctly predicted the winners of the 2005 and 2006 award, and the market didn't run in 2007.

I set it up pretty quickly, so if you notice glitches, let me know. The charts won't start working until there's some trades in the market.

In the future, you might be more specific. It was updated everywhere except the login page, which is now fixed.

No, it isn't, still says 2006 when I follow the link you provided (flushed cache and all). Not that it really matters.

Interesting stuff. Wish it had a more graphical interface. And that I could do puts/stops and invest on drops.

Also, what about having another stock market with a lot more stocks to pick from? I remember www.wc3campaigns.net (or whatever the URL was before) had a pretty interesting stock market game.

Thanks Matthew for your effort. As this will be my first time, the end result will be to have more stock on the SdJ winner?

It is asking for a user name and password. I put my BGG info in and it says it is wrong. I am using firefox. It also says 2006 for me too.

I don't think Matthew copied your bgg login info, you need to create an account.

I'd love to see a leaderboard showing the top 5 or 10 based on the cash value of their current holdings and maybe that value, just so I could see if I'm doing well.

The goal is to have the most money in the end, where once the prize is awarded, shares in the winner are worth $100 each and all others worth $0. So, usually the winner will win having many shares in the winner, but in theory you could also win by just doing judicious trades and managing your cash well before then. The About page describes this as well.

This is correct. This is separate from your BGG account.

The problem is most people hoard stock in the one or two games they think will win, so a leaderboard is hard to do. You could just multiply the shares by the last trade price, but that's pretty misleading in a market quite this illiquid.

Specifically at the link you posted, when not logged in, it still says 2006.

Once again thanks Mathew.

Taking all in consideration, do the guys currently playing it think a fiddly game as Stone Age will win the SdJ?

Quick question about $ at the end... Is the formula for final scoring:

A) Stock in winner x $100

or

B) (Stock in winner x $100) + Cash

Thanks...

It is 'B'. He said before that it is most likely that the person with the most stock in the winning game will win, unless you do a lot of successful trading before hand and build up a large cash pile.

I do recall something like that, but it left unclear whether one could wheel and deal to get money but have to invest it all in the winning stock.

Somehow I managed to have negative cash. Sure, it's a very small amount (-1.4210854715202e-14) but negative none the less. Interesting round off effect.

As others have stated, this is the goal.

In previous years I've also highlighted highest ending cash position.
