I will be attending training in Chicago on the 17th and 18th, but my evenings should be free. I will be near the Magnificent Mile around the area of the Gleacher Center. I have never been to Chicago before. Are there any good game stores in the area? Anyone who'd be up for a meal and a game of something perhaps in a pub or something? (I promise I'm not a psycho. If anything, the danger is that you will find me boring. snore ) Reply here or send me a G-Mail.

Cat-n-mouse is a cool new store on Armitage (www.cat-n-mouse.com). Black Sun Games is also cool but it is far up.

One of the best stores in the area is Games Plus (http://www.games-plus.com/games-plus/) in Mount Prospect. Although the store is in the suburbs, it is just a block away from a commuter train station. Here is the a link to the train schedule from Union Station (http://metrarail.com/Sched/cnw_nw/cnw_nw.shtml). The store is right next to the Mount Prospect station. The store suppports a wide variety of gaming. I'm not sure what games are played on Wednesday night, but there are always several tables of boardgames on Thursday night, from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Great. What kinds of games get played? Is it possible to get food?

There's tons of spots around there to grab a bite. It's in the "downtown" area of Mt. Prospect. I've only been there a few times but all the staff are friendly and there's always a game or two of something going on.

The usual range of Eurogames. Agricola has been getting a lot of play lately. A few of us play wargames and somewhat heavier Eurogames. Recent games to hit the table include Twilight Struggle, Wilderness War, Kutuzov, Manifest Destiny, Game of Thrones, Through the Ages, Parthenon, and several games of 18XX.
