I'm going to be going to Memphis soon and I was wondering what shops I should check out. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks!

I just went to that store for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It's pretty good.

As you would expect, mostly geared toward the CCG RPG crowd. But they've got plenty of gaming space, and he sells snacks and stuff. I could only stop in momentarily.

Boardgame selection was mostly limited to Mayfair/Days of Wonder type things. I don't think I saw anything from Rio or Z-Man, or any of the more niche publishers. But it's a new store so it might be that they haven't gotten much yet.

Check out Gamerz Depot: http://www.gamerzdepot.com/

Technically they are south of the city in Olive Branch, Mississippi, but worth a trip down. They've got board games and a ton of Flames of War, Wings of War and AT-43 stuff. They are starting up Friday Family Game Nights, too, for boardgames.

Also, if you're going to be in town over a weekend, you might want to come to one of our Saturday game days. More information here: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/MSBGC-club/

I'm coming from Jackson so I'll pass right through Olive Branch. Thanks!

The Mid-SouthGame Center has been gone for about a year. Also the Gamerz Depot is no longer in Olive Branch. The are located in the eastern part of Shelby County (where Memphis is) off 385 and Hacks Cross.

4205 Hacks Cross Rd | Memphis, TN 38125 | (901) 205-9877

That's about it around here. CCG stuff found in a couple of places (Hobbytown near Bartlett)etc

Gamerz depot is gone now also.

However the comic cellar on Austin Peay bought out their stock and have been building their board game collection rather quickly since the board game community in Memphis plays there on Saturdays.

I do not get over to the Austin Pea area very often (live in south east Cordova (Houston Levee and Walnut Grove). I might get out there to check things out tho.

I have not been to Midsouth Hobbies in a long time. I know them as Midsouth Hobbies (no games) and remember them as being really cool for model bulding and trains, etc. Great shop. I might have to drift over there again (maybe on my way to Austin Pea).

There is another shop starting up on the corner of Farmington and Exeter in Germantown.

Farmington Center Hobby Center
1994 Exeter Rd
Germantown, TN 38138

I stopped in the parking lot and they are just getting set up as the only thing in the store was boxes and shelving. Looks like a ton of 40k stuff and I got a heads up from a GW mailing list. I guess that will be their focus (yes, I saw the GW as a part of their namelaugh ). GW also has the US main manufacturing plant/distribution center/store here (Battle Bunker). I hope the guys in G'Town will do good. Keeping a game store up in this city has always been tough.

NOPE. They have closed the store front and moved to the GW Factory on Holmes Rd. Just a store front now and all the gaming areas have been removed.
