Its been a stunning couple of years for Space & Sci-fi games with a lot of really great games being released. In 2007 & 2008 we have had:

Race for the Galaxy
Battlestar Galactica
Space Alert
Galactic Emperor
Supernova
Classic Battletech Introductory Box Set
Monsterpocalypse
HeroScape Master Set: Swarm of the Marro
Galaxy Trucker
Warhammer 40,000 5th Edition
StarCraft: The Board Game
Planet Steam
Frontiers

So I thought it would be time to have a "Best game" poll for Sci-fi.
The games in this poll have the highest Bayesian average rating for Sci-fi & Space Exploration games. Plus I added in a few games that either get very high ratings (with few votes) or are recent games with few ratings. If you think I've missed a critical game then please add your own poll entry.

You missed Duck Dealer. Duck Dealer is in the top 5 Essen Games for me this year, along with Confucius, and Preußische Ostbahn.

Duck Dealer! I had it in my mind, but it didn't appear on my searches - because it doesn't have any mechanics or categories identified on its game entry.

This may be just me p***ing in the wind, but what about previous editions of 40k, most notably Rogue Trader and 2nd Ed. just for shigs and gittles?

40k 4th edition actually got the highest bayesian average rating, but none of the 40ks actually met my criteria (7+ rating) for adding to the list and I only let the 5th edition in as it met my category of 'new'. However, feel free to add polls for them.

Nah, that's just fine... I wasn't sure of your cut-off criteria. Fair enough for me!

I will say one thing about this poll... it truly amazes me how well Ogre and G.E.V. have held up over these many, many years. Impressive figures for a couple of great games.
