Hi all,

I will be travelling to Tokyo in the next 2 weeks.

Would any be able to share where I can buy some boardgames from Japan?
Is there any shops at Shinjuku, Ueno, Shibuya, etc?

Thanks in advance.

Gerald

What are you looking to buy? Japanese games or games in English? This changes where to shop quite a bit.

The best place to shop (English games) by far is Shosen Book Mart

http://www.shosen.co.jp/hp/mart/index_mart.html (it's the red block, not the blue one on the map)

Can you read Japanese? if not, the easiest way to get there is to go to Jimbocho or Ochanomizu station.

Anyway, they have a huge selection of board games on the second floor.

Thanks for your reply.
I am looking at English boardgames.

I will check out the website that you have given me.
Is the place near Shinjuku, Ueno, etc?

Yellow Submarine, Shinjuku West Exit, near Yodobashi Camera.

Good luck finding it.

The Japanese never saw fit to label their overly complicated streets like the rest of the fragging world. I guess because life in an overcrowded metropolis isn't difficult enough.angry

Be sure to go to BIC CAMERA and buy Sushijan. I wanted to buy it on the last day of my trip in Nagoya, but unfortunately the BIC CAMERA shop there didn't have a games store. If only I had bought it in Kyoto or Osaka. cry

Shosen is near Akihabara (1 stop away if you are going to Ochanomizu station) They have a ton of games whether it be Euro,Ameritrash, RPG, etc. I have no idea how they sell their stuff as none of it is translated, but I'm not complaining!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the prices are a bit expensive considering they get their games from America (it seems) so expect a bit of a markup on all games.

Thanks Everyone...
I will try to check out Yellow Submarine and Shosen,

I have Wasabi, and it would be great to play Wasabi in Japan...haha
But my girlfriend will definitely be against bringing it along.

Is Sushijan similar to Wasabi?

I must find this "Shosen" of which you speak. Akihabara is much closer to where I live than Shinjuku.

On your second observation, don't they include translation booklets? Most stores either have the booklet taped to the game's shrink-wrap or else they just give it to you at the counter when you buy it. No real mystery there.

that's the funny part... They don't include translation booklets like the Roll and Roll in Akiba or Yellow Submarine...
