This year me and my girlfriend are spending our summer holidays (july and august)in the New England States. We are going to to a big round trip (NY, Marthas Vineyard, Boston, Niagara Falls, Finger Lakes, Atlantic City and much more...).
I would also like to use my time there to do some shopping (especially train games and complex board games -> strategy, empire, civilization, economic games). Do you have recommendations for good stores which are into this kind of games (no Euro games - I've got plenty of that in Germany^^)?
We are going to stay in New York (Manhattan), Boston, Albany, Rochester, Erie, Ithaca and Atlantic City.
Any good ideas where to go?
Thanks in advance
Johannes

I used to live in Boston. I'd suggest:

Compleat Strategist (Downtown near Symphony Hall):
The Compleat Strategist, Boston Mass
957 COMMONWEALTH AVE
BOSTON, MA 02215
617-254-1166

They also have a NY branch:
The Compleat Strategist New York City Location
11 East 33rd Street (between Madison and Fifth Avenue)
New York, NY 10016
212-685-3880

Also in the Boston Area:

Your Move Games (http://somerville.yourmovegames.com/index.php?filename=direc...)

Compleat Strategist has moved from the Mass Ave/Symphony location. The address, however, is correct. They moved to a location on Comm Ave that is difficult enough to find for locals. Sadly, it's little more than a walk-in closet in the back of a commercial block near BU now

Your Move Games http://www.yourmovegames.com/ is still there, and there is Pandemonium Games http://www.pandemoniumbooks.com/ and Games People Play http://www.thegamespeopleplaycambridge.com/
These are just north of Boston and still accessible by the subway system. Pandemonium is a mix of RPG/fiction bookstore and FLGS; Your Move Games is mostly games (and also publishes their own YMG titles). Games People Play is more of a store for collectible-quality games (mostly chess and such).

And if you're in the area, there are several groups in Boston who would happily welcome guests for an evening of games if it fits your schedule.

Feel free to contact me if you need any more information...

Thanks!!! Seems like there are lot of fine places to visit ....

and my girlfriend is going to to kill me.
- She is not really interested in board games. Zooloretto, Settlers and Cat attack are the only games she plays.
Probably our last holiday??? Just kidding, I think I can handle it.

BTT: I just took an quick overview on the onlinestores and it made me smile. There are a lot of games, which are quite hard to get in Germany or much more expensive to buy. I think I'll be happy.

The only thing that would make it better is to get my hand on some of taht Winsome stuff. Maybe I should visit John. :-D
