Am I a man or am I a muppet? If I'm a muppet then I'm a very manly muppet!

Yes, it's taken WAY too long, but I've finally managed to blog my way
through my top 100 kid games.

You can see the geeklist at:

http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/31966

You can read all the blog entries at:

http://akapastorguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Kid%20Games%20...

I have some more posts planned to wrap things up: a comprehensive
listing of all the games, a list of those games still in print, and
some comments on companies & designers.

I also plan to comment on the missing games - things that people
anticipated finding on my list that didn't appear - as well as on the
recent games that didn't make the list (which was made in May of
2008.)

Enjoy & comment on the Geek or on the blog... or both!

Very impressive, and very very useful. I bought Jungle Treasure because of your review and list, and we have enjoyed that gama a lot! You cover a lot of games that there is little information about from other sources which makes the list quite unique. A must read for anyone interested in gaming with kids!

Thank you for the kind words, Henrik.

BTW, I've now played Fraga's Auf die Sch├Ątze, fertig, los! (in English, "Treasure, Ready, Go!", which is the large box version of Jungle Treasure. The building tasks are simpler (require less dexterity) but the variety of tasks are greater.

They're both great gaming experiences - I'm not sure you need to own both of them, but I'm glad I do.

I did have a look at that game as well, but bought Jungle Treasure because it was cheaper and as the game was intended as a birthday gift for my 9 year old daughter, I didn't want the game to be too simple. I might buy "Treasure, ready, go" for my 5 year old though. He loved Jungle Treasure, but we had to simplify the game a bit for him and give him more time to finish the tasks. A slightly simpler game would suit him better.

I'll be writing a more detailed write-up on the differences in the next few weeks (on the blog) but you've pretty much encapsulated it. Jungle Treasure is more portable, cheaper, and pitched slightly older than Treasure-Ready-Go!

I enjoyed this series , Mark. Some choices made me exclaim "what does he see that I don't?"*, but that's kind of what "Best Of" lists are supposed to do, right? You put a few games on my radar that I knew little or nothing about, which is always welcome.

* For example, Tier auf Tier as #101 (much too low) and Kayanak as #1.

Ah, but I see that the Lurking Meeple has a Haba badge... so all is right with the world.

Thanks for the kind comments. My next post ("MIA Games: Recent Contenders") should hit in the next few days.
