Orlando has one I've been to...think it has the word "Green" in the name? I can't remember. Maybe this will jog someone's memory.

Coolstuff Games (Coolstuff, Inc.) is an internet retailer that also has a storefront. They have a board game night every Wednesday that is reasonably well attended.

You should stop by!

Here is the link to Sci-Fi city on East Colonial Drive. They have a good collection of board games. In store events include WarHammer tournaments and XBOX 360 gaming by the hour from a comfy lounge chair using large plasma TVs.

There are quite a few (all the is.gd links should redirect to google map links hopefully ):

The famous on BGG Cool Stuff Games' local storefront is in the Orlando area - http://is.gd/5g1zz

Sci-Fi City is a place that you can check out. - http://is.gd/5g1DP

Rhubarb Games is a place that focuses on miniature wargames but also have boardgames. - http://is.gd/5g1HR

Coliseum of Comics is in several malls and has a decent selection of games. - http://is.gd/5g1LR

Paladin Tech and Game is a bit closer to MCO but has a decent selection of games. They're a brand new shop - http://is.gd/5g1Wy

We're blessed with a plethora places to go. All of these places save for a few of the Coliseum of Comics also have places to play and dedicated board game nights. Let us know how your experience in Orlando is.

I'll second Coolstuffinc. Best prices you'll get in town or anywhere else for that matter. Understand, it is a little unusual for a store. They are, at heart, a web seller so you don't have the standard display of wears on the shelves (they have some behind the counter but not a ton) the main room of the store is just tables to play various games but oh the board game stock room is a sight to behold (they really should post a picture of it on the geek). You can take a look at their inventory on-line and when you actually buy something at the store you use one of the store computers, fill out the order, and tell the person behind the counter the order number and they will gather it up for you. Personally, I have always been really happy dealing with them. I haven't been able to go to the game nights due to work and family obligations.

If your looking for the more retail store experience, SciFi City is a large gaming store located in orlando near the intersection of Colonial (aka 50) and SR 436. They have a great selection of RPGs, board games, anime - at full retail price. They have play areas, Richard Borg is there some weekends, and Dave Arneson used to game there before he passed away. They occasionally have interesting things on sale and sometimes have sales around the holidays that are good.

The big thing is where are you staying because both of these are a good 40 minutes from the Disney area depending on traffic. Personally, coolstuffinc is worth it.

Take care, and have a good trip,
Matt

I will note that the pricing between the webstore at Cool Stuff and any in-store purchases are the same (plus sales tax which is 7.5% IIRC). Also, customers are free to peruse their boardgame shelves to pick things for themselves. It isn't necessary to place orders through their computer (I do so that I can count it towards their customer rewards promotion). I usually place the order and pay through their computer, go to the boardgame shelves and pull it myself, and verify at the front counter that my cart has been paid for. It's kinda like the IKEA experience .

Edited for tripping over the English language.

just like jesse dean said, if your able to make the trip up to coolstuff, our gaming group averages about 10-15 board gamers a night...some of us get there as early as 4:00 but the main players don't arrive untill 5:30 6:00...and we play to midnight!

...i live 4 miles West of disney off of US192..so its a ways for me to go every week but its totally worth it.

Andrew, I think it is more like 20-25. It is easy to lose track when you are gaming though.

Hey,

Hi my name's Ted I'm the games Manager at Coliseum of Comics in Kissimmee, fl. At our location we have the largest collection of board games in the chain, clocking in around 200+ different titles at my last count.

Our Kissimmee location is around 20 minutes away from Disney, and easy to find, just go east on 192 for 12 miles then right on Main St, we are on the left hand side about two miles down.

We always have tables for people to play on and run a board game club every Thursday from 6pm to 10pm (most of the times later.)

This Thursday we are having our annual Christmas party in which everyone is invited, it's bunch of dorky trivia games and raffles, plus anyone who shows up with our newsletter coupon gets $5 free in merchandise. The board game club should still be meeting from 9pm to 11pm but it is tentative as of right now. Next week is a definitely go.

Anything you need? email me at teds@coliseumofcomics.com

Thank you,

Ted

As a slight hijack, I've instantiated a Orlando, FL guild here on the Geek. Any locals interested? There's nothing there, but let's see what we can do about it.

Unfortunately not. We have a big one on Wednesday, but Tuesday night does not have any public ones.
