Well if Yellowstone goes off, I’m screwed anyway as I’m less than 200 miles from it.

Re: NESTORGAMES newsletter - SUM ON published!
Sum On published!

by Markus Hagenauer.

Sum On is an abstract strategy game of clever move chaining, for two players. You must use both your pieces and your opponent's pieces to make bonus moves, so step wisely!

Components: a 9×8 board, eight red pieces numbered 1–8, eight blue pieces numbered 1–8, cotton case. The pieces are made of 3mm thick laser-cut and engraved acrylic.

Re: NESTORGAMES newsletter - YAVALAX published!
Yavalax published!

http://www.nestorgames.com/yavalax_detail.html

A game for two players inspired by both Yavalath and Connect6, by Ken Shoda.

In Yavalax you win by making simultaneous 4-in-a-rows of your colour at once, but it's forbidden to create just a single 4-in-a-row or a row of 5 or more discs.

Components: a 13x13 board, 85 white plastic discs, 85 blue plastic discs, cotton case.

Suggestions for classifications are welcome, but only if at least 6 nestorgames fit.

Thanks!

Actually 'award-winners' would be a bit unfair for the other designers, but the rest are good.

Anyway I don't want to have more categories than games, so I'll wait for more suggestions and we'll see.

Edit: Also, almost all abstracts are combinatorial.

Re: NESTORGAMES newsletter - YAVALAX published!
I'd like some categories tied to player counts if possible - 2 player and 2+ players, or something like that. I ended up coming back to BGG's filters to find games that would support 3+ players the last few times.

Thanks!

Edit: With just a few exceptions, all abstracts are 2 player and all family games are 2 or more players.

The site looks much better with the fewer 'category' boxes, but I agree some games are hard to tag. Maybe start a sports category? Penguin Soccer, 11, BASKETmind, Top Speed...

PS/ Isn't Epaminondas a classic?

"Classic" seems a vague word, but all the games in the current "classic" list are much older than Epaminondas (1975). Hex (1942) is the only other one even from the 20th century.
