Re: NESTORGAMES newsletter - EPAMINONDAS DELUXE!
A little quiz for you. 1 Geekgold for the one that answers correctly first.

Arcade units can be purchased in green, orange, blue and red. Together with yellow, those are the only 5 fluorescent colours available for acrylic.

The question is: why did I choose green to be the main colour?

New edition of Quantum Leap

http://www.nestorgames.com/quantumleap_detail.html

Quantum Leap is a board game for 2 players by yours trully that can be played on a hexagonal grid of any shape and size. This new edition contains a hexhex5 board with 61 holes for easier set-up and 61 balls

In Quantum Leap, each player’s particles start dispersed on the board. Your goal is to be the last player making a valid move. Particles can only move by capturing enemy particles, leaping in a special fashion. Particles get their leaping potential from the number of friendly particles that immediately surround them.

Components: 30 white balls and 31 black balls (19mm diameter), red foam board with 61 holes, carrying bag. If you want to purchase the old edition with rings instead of board please contact me.

Re: NESTORGAMES newsletter - SPACE DEFENDERS!
Space Defenders published!

http://www.nestorgames.com/spacedefenders_detail.html

A board game for up to 4 players by yours trully.

Space Defenders is a tribute to the arcade games of the 70s and 80s. Up to four players must defend earth from hordes of attacking invaders from outer space by eliminating all of them before they reach the bottom row of the board. Warning! Friendly fire activated!

Components: board (10×6 grid resembling an arcade game screen), 4 spaceships of different colours (the defenders), 4 tokens of the same colour as the defenders, 4 bomb tokens, one mine, carrying case, 70 invaders (cardboard square tiles) in two types: space monsters (1 tile) and flying saucers (2 tiles). Monsters come in 5 colours depending on their value (number of eyes). The defenders, the mine and the bombs are made of 3mm thick laser-cut acrylic.

I'm sorry, but which CRT screens are you referring to? Battlezone was green, but it was vector, not CRT. Space Invaders was CRT, but it was white with a green stripe coloring the player and bunkers. I'm not thinking of any green CRT screened arcade games. I can only think of old computers that had green CRTs.

I know this is pedantic, but I'm really curious about it. :)

Well, it's really a tribute to the first computer I had. The NewBrain. It had a green CRT.

But Nathan got so close...

Well, the gameplay is noticeably different. No fortresses, multiplayer, friendly fire, a moving mine...

It's like a mash-up.

A mash-up I'll include in my next order! I would even if it was only for the nostalgia, but from what I've seen I'm sure I'll enjoy the game. And it will give me the opportunity to tell my kids the kind of games I played when I was their age...
meeple

PS/ Will it be game of the week?

Already released at a very tight price (those cardboard tiles are expensive to produce in small runs). So no NGotW for it.

So the only difference is that the first player does not place a harvester? Did the first player have an advantage or a disadvantage? I have not played the game yet...

Yes, the first player does not place a harvester. That's the original rule from The Bitcoin Harvest that I removed for simplicity. But then the 'L' player has a big advantage at the start, so I had to re-enter it.

I have not seen the new martians yet, but if I were you I would get the nestorgames copy, a very portable great game (see my review)!

But when I'll see the new martians, I may feel like getting the new edition too... shake

Re: NESTORGAMES newsletter - Guerrilla Checkers published!
Very intriguing! And very asymmetric! meeple

I guess captured guerrilla pieces are removed from the game? Maybe you should specify it, to avoid (silly?) questions...

OK, it can be understood from this victory condition:

"The Guerrilla player (black) loses if he runs out of pieces"
