Most likely this is an incompatibility with the latest OLWLG. No amount of back-testing will fix it if the OLWLG is the same code no matter what version of Firefox you are running.

I've not been trading lately, and the impetus to keep this updated was from my trading through OLWLG. But I'll take a look at this soon.

Yes, that makes sense. I just posted my attempts in case they had any debug value.
Many thanks!

the mywants.cgi script (aka "step 4") of the OLWLG hasn't been edited since...

2011-10-21

so it's like FF changes that broke OWLito

I just spent some time looking at this. It looks like the root cause is that jQuery 1.6 added a new method to pull the value of a checkbox. I'll send my changes to Ed and hopefully he'll either publish a new version with the changes or allow me to post the changes here for those interested.

I have just installed this on both firefox and Chrome, and the additional checkboxes appear in the first row/column (as does the 'change height' option in Firefox) and I see the 'name' OWLito v1.3.3 just above the table. So, all seems fine so far ...

However, when I tick the nerw tickboxes, only the box itself is ticked - nothing in the row/column. It does not populate the row or column when I 'confirm changes' either.

When I try to change the table height (in Firefox) I just get a new blank tab opening.

Unfortunately the new OLWLG isn't (or doesn't seem to be) compatible with Checkboxmate, so it's going to be a laborious exercise - unless it's something obvious I'm doing wrong!

Any suggestions will be very gratefully received!

edit: turn off the 'newstyle' checkboxes in Profile and it works just fine. Of course, I only discovered that after ticking 1800 boxes by hand!

I wanted something simple for Chrome, so just made a quick bookmarklet.

To use the bookmarklet, first create it by making a new bookmark and for the URL, paste the following:

javascript:(function(){owlchecker=document.createElement('SCRIPT');owlchecker.type='text/javascript';owlchecker.src='https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/hr1h4r46ciofz9b/owlcheck...';document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(owlchecker);})();

I named my bookmark OwlChecker, but feel free to name it whatever.

Next go to step 4 within OLWLG and click on your new bookmark. The script will give an alert once it has finished loading.

Once loaded, the first checkbox clicked inverts normally and then is disabled (to help track which was the first one clicked). The second checkbox clicked triggers the script to invert all checkboxes within range of the two. This way you can quickly check a whole row, column or any other rectangular range.

That's it. Should work fine on all browsers that are supported by jQuery. Do note that the script is currently hosted on my Dropbox account, so should you not have access to Dropbox where you are then it will fail to load. You can download the script and host it yourself where ever you like: download OwlChecker.

Edit: I've stopped using dropbox and moved the javascript file to my own server - the code above has been updated to reflect that - please update your bookmarklets

Edit: My web host went MIA so I've moved the script back to dropbox.

None of the links seem to be working for v1.3.3.
Where can I get this tool from?

It seems that userscripts.org is down for good. After some searching I discovered the owlito script in the following mirror site:

In case the above link is not working, I have also uploaded the file to mediafire, here:
http://tinyurl.com/jgwptjp

in order to install it, download it to any folder in your pc, open firefox and type in the address box:

file:///C:/Users/Dimitris/Downloads/owlito 69310.user.js

where "C:/Users/Dimitris/Downloads/owlito 69310.user.js" is the correct path for the file you downloaded.

OwlChecker works just fine in Chrome, and has been for a long time. I've been using it a lot, and used it again just minutes ago. So I think you either disabled javascript, you're on a very old version of Chrome, or you've somehow messed up the line of code.

best way to do that in my opinion is switch to firefox and use owlito.

however, to use owlchecker in chrome:

make sure you are in step 4.
click the bookmark. see the displayed message "loaded" as you mentioned.
click on any checkbox. then click on another checkbox in the same column.

what happens?

Howdy folks, I've removed my dropbox so to keep owlchecker working I've uploaded the file to my personal server and updated the code above. Please update your bookmarklets to keep the tool working on your end.

Trying to get this to work.

I go to step 4.

I click the bookmark, and receive the loaded message.

When I click checkboxes, only the checkboxes that I click are inverting. What am I doing wrong?
