The game's name will be spelled with K, not with C.
Don't be fooled by the prototype cover with the old spelling.
We ran into a trademark conflict and had to change the name.

(This was already corrected twice here. To the person who always resubmits the old name and gets it falsified: dude, you're soooo wrong.) cool

Hanno,

Would you happen to be willing to release some more information on the game?

Patience, my young Jedi, patience.
We will release 3 games BEFORE Merkator, and I'm in the middle of production issues of all kind.
As soon as I find some time, I'll share more information.

Fair enough!

Also, when you get a chance of course, I am guessing there is some interest in the amount of delay there is going to be between the release of the game in Germany and North America. I would like to have a copy earlier rather than later, but if it is just going to be a short amount of time between the releases, then I will wait for it to arrive in North America.

Here's a short overview, for those who can't wait - a very personal one.

Merkator is a typical Rosenberg game: you collect heaps of commodities, there's as usual more good options than one, and you always have this angst that your opponents can take those goods you need if you gamble and let them linger for a while.
For me, Merkator plays like LeHavre on steroids.
Everything is more compact, more intense. There are 16 standard goods that you need to fulfill contracts - you're a trader in the Thirty Years' War who delivers to any nation willing to pay you.
Fulfilling a contract gives you a new, better contract, with even better revenues. If you got your engine running, you go for special cards giving you extra victory points.
But most interesting is the most valuable commodity: time.
There are time counters in the game, and some actions save you time that you can spent for other actions. There's always to opportunity to act in your opponents' turns - but you have to pay time. They save time, you lose time.
As usual, Uwe has a short and a long game, as well as a solitaire version.
The game scales just from 1-4 players, but it's fun with each player count.

I'm sooo looking forward to play this with the final version instead of with the prototype, as we did our best to make you a damned good game.

Thanks a lot for the information, Hanno!

I'm another North American dying to get this game, and wondering if I should import it as soon as it's available in English!

Probably no need to go the extra mile, I'll assume that the Ugoi (to quote one of my favourite session report writer) will start offering pre-order pretty soon. I expect a mid-November release for North America.

looking forward to this game since my first prototype play nearly two years ago ...

i think it´s quite different to his former big games and for me it felt very elegant and even faster than le havre in therms of how fast you can play the game (when you know what to do) ...

the best rosenberg game i have played until now ...waiting for my first play of ora et labora ....

What's this? A deliberate leak of the next Rosenberg game's name ?!

Ora et Labora sounds like the perfect game for ME ,haven´t played it but looking forward to it since i heard only the name ...a monastery theme ,le havre like, spatial element , dramastically reduced bookkeeping
in comparison to agricola or le havre and finally it´s a rosenberg game

and if he keeps on developing in this direction where every game will be superior to his former games it will be MY perfect game, because for me they are placed like they were developed loyang, agricola,le havre ,mercator ....and maybe in a year ora et labora

edit: translated "deliberate" after i submitted this post ... no it wasn´t a deliberate leak ,because the game already has an entry in the database

Everybody playing Uwe Rosenberg's games becomes a Jedi.
Take that, Darth Knizia.

If only I'd known. I have really been underutilising the force.
