Great Hall games is a top notch place. The people who work there are awesome, however, some of the people who game there are a little childish.

Great place if you can find some good opponents.

SXSW
I generally go each year for the music. There are just too many bands to see and never enough time to see them all. I am a big fan of Austin. I have been to SXSW for work as well since I am in the 3d software industry.

Dragon's Lair
I spend regular time and money at Dragon's Lair. I like them a lot. Solid comics, excellent odd and anime DVD (mostly rentals, less for sale.) I'm always surprised at how many of the BGG games I'm interested in are stocked. It's a nice store to browse in.
