I'm going to be up in Seattle for a week at the end of February. What game stores should I check out? Also, would anyone want to have me come over and play games for an evening? I'll be available the evenings of February 27th through March 3rd.

Isn't boardsandbits.com in the Seattle area? They are not a BM
store but you can pick up your games and avoid shipping.

Good point! Also, does anyone in the Portland/Vancouver area want me to pick up games for them so they can save themselves the shipping cost?

Yeah, but my Vancouver could totally beat up your Vancouver.

I will be out of town on work for much of that stint, so cry for me.

Oh, I should mention that Gamefest also lets you swing by and pick up any games you bought. They're in Issaquah, though, which is about 30-40 minutes out of town, depending on traffic.

Oh, who am I kidding. Traffic is always terrible in Seattle. gulp

Seattle Game stores
Game Wizard 65th and 8th NW - two blocks from my house. Not a great selection, but sometimes they have odd old things you might be looking for.

Gary's Games - Greenwood and 85th - Best selection around

Genesis Game's and Gizmos - Over in Redmond next door to the Bella Botega Theatre - Also a good selection, and they host one of my game nights.

Uncle's Games - Redmond Town Center - Host of my other game night. Also a good selection of games.

Also check out http://www.seattlespiel.com/ which has a listing with others.

Brad, thanks for the info. That should help a lot.

Also, are either of those game nights running that week? I'd love to stop by!

Don't forget American Eagle Hobby at 12537 Lake City Way NE. They specialize in modeling but have a large selection of games, including some old AH stuff.

Gary's and American Eagle
Check out Gary's mentioned above, they have a selection of used games (bought 1830 there last week as well as a boatload of obscure out of print games). Also as mentioned above American Eagle has a big stock of war games and some board games, their prices are full retail but again a lot of it is out of print. They also have TONS of rpg stuff and lots of miniatures.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I've been to Garry's and American Eagle before and definitely intend to go back. Are there any other good places to get used games? What are the best thrift stores in the area?

Not the Value Village across the street (unless you need more copies of the UnGame or MidLife Crisis with most of the bits missing)

*shudder*

American Eagles also now has a train shop in the basement.

I've never had luck in thrift stores here. There's the White Elephant at 65th and Roosevelt (near the Whole Foods), and two consignment shops north of it on Roosevelt - I did see an old copy of Acquire in one of them recently, come to think of it. And there's an antiques store on Greenwood and about 70th/75th which has overpriced copies of a couple of old weirdies, like Tank Battle and the Kojak game. Oh they have a nice old copy of Camelot too.
