I believe you find life such a problem because you think there are the good people and the bad people. You're wrong, of course. There are, always and only, the bad people, but some of them are on opposite sides.

Hi,

I am going to be in Rockville, Maryland for a couple of weeks and I wondered if there's any game stores round those parts that carries a good selection of board games - like euros and so on...

Thanks,

Federico

dream wizards is right in rockville, but it's not that big, and the selection of euros is not extensive.

if you have wheels, i have heard better about stores in northern virginia and up towards baltimore.

If you've got a car, there's also http://www.familygamestore.net in Laurel. Good selection, but they don't discount.

Yes, I will be renting a car for the stay.

Thanks for the info, if you know any other good boardgame store in the nearby area let me know!

If you don't mind a little drive to Northern VA, I would recommend the Game Parlor. It's the best one that I know of in the DC area, and has a much larger selection than Dream Wizards.

Not only don't they discount. I was told on the phone that the owner has a "philosophical problem with paying for promotional material to make people buy a game". That is the response I recieved when I was going to buy Back to the Future: The Card Game and asked if they had the pizza hydrator promo. They also have a habit of charging more for rare games (an expected, and accepted practice) but when asked why the game is more they tell you its "the cost of shipping", as if to imply they did not up the price because a game is out of print, or hard to get. If you don't play game at their location, I find the place hard to sell to others.

Just my .02.

I'm not defending them, but what rare game are you referring to? I'm not familiar with them selling above MSRP for anything.

They had (or maybe still have) a copy of Battlelore for I think it was $99. It may have only been $89, when I asked if that was MSRP, they said "Yes, but with the cost of shipping now, some of the prices have gone up." I ran into the same problem with one of the expansions to Bang!, but to their credit, I never checked to see if they were charging MSRP, but once I said the price seemed high, and they noted shipping to me again, I just figured it was over. That one might not have been.
