This is the 123rd Play-By-Forum Battlestar Galactica game. It will follow the format established by ColtsFan76. It is a 5-player, European, Pegasus Game.

This game is by invite only. The waiting list is being maintained at the BSG PBF Wiki.

The players are:
hidamiyiagi
elfstone0411
pirikou
oliverst
raster51

The rules of the game are pretty much as in all the other threads. If this is your first BSG PBF game, please read through at least one of the previous games to get a feeling for how it is done.

Some particular notes for those taking part (you can find more notes and tips on nbergom's geeklist Tips and Tricks of BSG PBF):

1) SUBSCRIBE TO THIS THREAD. And please, login at least once a day, preferably more.

2) All players must have their own copies of the game as I am only going to publish card titles (this is an FFG request).

3) Private communication will be by geekmail between me and particular players, all other communication will be by posting in this thread. Please start your geekmail subject line with "BSG 123" and your character name.

4) To speed up the game, please use Conditional Orders (i.e., geekmail me what you will do if certain circumstances arise). CO's are particularly useful for interrupts, such as Evasive Maneuvers. I will not wait for rare occurrences (e.g., a player using a Strategic Planning on a basestar attack or a viper attacking a raider, or a player using his OPG) unless I have received a CO to that end, or if I feel that discussions in the thread warrant it.

5) Please use the following posting conventions:
* Normal text for dicussions.
* Italics for flavour texts.
* Bold for in-game moves and actions. I won't process any decisions/actions unless bolded in the thread or I receive them in geekmail.
Please do not post any spoilers for the televsion series in the thread.

6) There is no need to change your avatar to match your character. However, I would like you to make clear in each post who your character is by posting a banner at the top of your post. Great banners created by DukeOfEarl are available here (use the "medium" option to display them). If you find using a banner is too much of a hassle (or you are on your phone), at least list your character name in bold at the top of your post.

For flavour, a useful selection of character pictures is hosted on this geeklist by GerryRailBaron, though by all means provide your own if you wish.

Finally, my thanks to DaveD, of whom I copied about half the text of this post. And for being my first BSG PBF mod.

Re: BSG 123 - Unobtanium
Any suggestions for the game's name? "Lotus"? "Pelham"?

EDIT: I am now thinking of "BSG 123 - Gesundheit." Very meaningful if you have seen the 1974 version of "The Taking of Pelham 123." I don't know the 1998 version, but as it stars Edward James Olmos, it seems this movie is a perfect source for naming the game. (We better forget the 2009 version -- I have no idea why anyone would want to remake the 1974 version anyway.)

If "Gesundheit" is too whimsical, how about "Dead-man's Switch"? Or "South Ferry Loop"?

It's a European game, perhaps a famous European vessel, like the Bismarck.

I'm in!

I really hoped my next game would be with Flyboy again, so I'm a little sad that you won't play, but having you as a mod will probably be as cool :)

So, anyone wants to go to New Caprica? I prefer not to, but if majority you insists I would comply.
I like the Cylon leaders, but won't play one myself..

The most famous European vessels was undoubtedly the Titanic. I think "Gesundheit" is a rather stupid name for a ship (sorry to say that), as it means "Bless you" or "Health" in German.

I would therefore suggest the name Unbitrium, which is the temporary name of Element 123 (and sounds quite similar to Unobtanium).

Re: BSG 123 - Unobtanium
I wanted five players for the game specifically to avoid a Cylon Leader or a Sympathizer. So unless a player is really, really keen to play a Cylon Leader, I am leaning to not allowing one in this game. Three humans, two hidden Cylons.

As for our destination: New Caprica or Kobol are both fine, or we can leave it up to chance (die roll at the sleeper-agent phase). It's up to you.

"Gesundheit" is the very last word spoken in the 1974 version of "The Taking of Pelham 123", and it
Spoiler (click to reveal)
is the key to reveal the last hidden bad guy -- kind of like revealing a Cylon.
But I don't want to paste any "stupid" name on a game.

It's probably only sounds stupid if you're german.. so no offense to the movie (I guess its a movie, right?) or the suggestion per se.

We're leaving together,
But still it's farewell
And maybe we'll come back,
To earth, who can tell?
I guess there is no one to blame
We're leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?

I rest my case...

How stupid of me. I just realized that 12-3 is my daughter's birthday. So I am going to name this game after her favorite television series/computer game.

So, four players are in. Just waiting for the fifth one to join up. If we get two rejections, I am pretty sure where I can find a fifth player.

EDIT: Our alternate accepted, so I give raster51 until tomorrow to respond. If he does not before tomorrow evening, we start with Zeller as fifth player.

Everybody has accepted! That was fast. I need to prepare the spreadsheet, which I will start on right now.

Since one of the players has a definite Kobol preference, I assume the fleet will head there.

So this game will be:
5 players
European
Pegasus
Kobol
No Cylon Leader

Since we haven't started yet, there is still time to discuss this. But be fast about it.

I have randomized the players and this is the order in which characters are selected:

hidamiyiagi
raster51
pirikou
oliverst
elfstone0411

hidamiyiagi, you're up, and you can pick any of the characters (except for a Cylon Leader).
