The Area around the Metro "Saint-Michel" is a well known tourist-trap with dozens of restaurants delivering less quality for more money than 5 minutes further in the west, so I was very surprised to stumble over "Variantes" (http://bit.ly/a0bOsm,http://www.variantes.com) this spring, a nice game store with lots of eurogames. Enjoy your trip!

There is a place just south of Gare De Nord (Boulevard Magenta) that opens late and I've been to a few times while waiting for a Eurostar... Lots of new games, opens late and seems to have some clubs going on in the evenings although I've not had a chance to check these out.

Read this for a great little overview of this, and other options.

Wow, excellent list. Now I know where to go when I'm in Paris next time. Do you know a similar list for London?

Variante is a really nice place.

Two other one not so far would be starplayer (rue Laplace between the Seine and the Boulevard Saint Michel) and the historical rpg and boardgame of Paris Descartes, rue des écoles facing the Sorbonne university.

Feel free to ask for precisions if I wasn't clear enough

And good trip to Paris!

Variantes, Descartes and Starplayer are nice, because they're pretty close to each other (about 5 min walk from one to the other).

Le repaire du Dragon and Troll2Jeux are also nice places, but a bit harder to reach.

Oya Cafe, 25 rue de la Reine Blanche. I think it's the Gobelins stop; it's quite a short walk from the metro. Look for the red neon JEUX sign outside.

It's been some years since I was there, but it was still in existence last I heard; maybe someone more local can confirm. Awesome games-playing venue with an extensive selection of games for sale.

Bon voyage!

Thats true for both, they are a bit farer from the St Germain des près Métro

I enjoyed my visit to Descartes Ecoles last time I was in Paris.
I needed some stuff in English too, so reached them by phone before the trip. They were very ok in communication and helpful then (however it was 2 years ago, not sure it's so simple atm), so you could try to call.
