What are you doing!? I don't even know you!

I have designed a trick taking game in which each player enters a kind of ante for each trick. The ante consists of a card from the hand of the player, so one has to carefully consider whether to use any given card as an ante card or a trick card (which is always discarded after the trick, though). The game is scheduled to be presented in Nürnberg a month from now, but it has no catchy name yet. The publisher would be happy about good suggestions - anyone up to helping me?

- The game itself will be abstract, with number cards.
- The name should be good for Germans, but it could be an English name, too. I can think about a translation if necessary. If you have no idea about German, go ahead and make suggestions anyway.
- I think it should stress the risk taking factor rather than the trick taking. After some googling, I found out that the name "Risk" is taken, though. Dang.
- I need the name by, lets say, yesterday.
- I cannot guarantee that I will use a name that any of you suggests. But if I do, I will send the person who suggested it a copy of the game when it is finally in the market (hopefully sometime in spring, but no guarantees here, either).

Ok now, fire away!

German: Erwerb
English: Acquisition

(Trying to avoid the rather elegant Acquire which is already taken.)

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

- Ante-up: Untranslatable and unfortunately, not elegant in German, either.
- Sacrifice: Also difficult for Germans, and the translation "Opfer" sounds a bit religious or violent.
Erwerb/Acquisition: Hm. Erwerb sounds rather technical, unexciting. (I do find "Acquire" a good name, because it is direct.)

Keep them coming!

Risk Taker or, more simply, Taker (one who accepts an offer or bet)

EDIT: (according to Google translate that's Nehmer in German)

I will give these some thought, Bob - thanks. The word "risk" itself probably shouldn't appear, it is too taken. "Revenge" is not really a part of the game. "Take a leap"? Maybe.

"Nehmer" doesn't sound elegant. But we might be steering in the right direction here. I will think about it, too.

I need to work on another game right now - I will be back later to check your further suggestions. Thanks everyone!

Trick Risker or
RISK TRICK or
Risky Trickster or
TRICKY RISKER.

Of course, these seem to have a sort of rhyme to them, however, I don't know if that gets lost in the translation. Good Luck !

I was going to say the English word Better as it has the double meaning of someone who bets and something of higher quality

I see "someone who bets" translates to Wetter in German, which also has a number of nice meanings (though not the same as English, as Besser means higher quality)

Congratulations. Looking forward to playing it, even if I have to buy a copy.

Using Google translate and searching BGG for matches, I came up with:

Consequence :: Folge :: Konsequenz
Taking :: Unter
Wise Choice :: Wise Wahl:: (Weise Wahl?)

Good luck!

Wager Throw Down, or Throw Down Your Wager, not sure how that would translate. Good luck with your game.

How about "Pay or Play?"

As in - you either pay the ante with a card or save it to play it as a trick card?

No Risk, No Fun! (Hey, it's a game, after all - so FUN should be involved - and it's understandable for germans, too! ^^)

Trau Dich! (Though it could be, that this phrase is already registered - I think there was an advertisement for Fishermens Friends some time ago?)

Hopp oder Topp!

Wer nicht wagt, der nicht gewinnt!

Ohne Fleiss kein Preis!

Volles Risiko!

Or maybe:
Ins kalte Wasser! (Since it's kind of risky, too? ^^)

I suggest you call it TAKS, That is Skat spelled backwards. It won't need to be translated.
