I often wonder how much our view of history can be subverted by popular culture, or how certain periods can overshadow all others. An excellent example of which would be the modern reaction to the swastika.

Anyway, let us play a game!

I'm going to throw out some names, and your job is to vote for the FIRST thought that pops into your head... now be honest or it won't be any fun!

Note you need to be a little flexible in judging the similarity of thoughts and potential poll choices. Don't be too anal retentive (he says to the Wargaming forum, like there's any hope )

I agree with Jeb. If you start with names and you have a bunch of wargamers (this is the wargamers sub-domain after all) you are going to see similar reactions to each name for the most part.

Nice job though, perhaps you can do another poll but make the one word association more subtle.

Strictly speaking, "khan" is a title, not a name.
But more importantly, have we won? If so, what?

You left out the "none of the above" choice for most of the questions, so I didn't answer most of them.

Caesar and Khan; one was a choice, the other not.

You have to respect someone who will take a principled stand on the subject of "none of the above" options on a goofy internet poll. Our rights have been violated!

I loved the "Nelson-HAha" option. Really brilliant, man.

That was my choice, but of course, when I think of Nelson, it's always Nel-Rock, the original RINO and my avatar.

Nelson was the only one that took me away from the choices of the majority...having suffered the technique a lot of times on my neck, it was hard to remember something else when reading the name.

Montgomery- Unfortunately, I think of Montgomery Wards.

Lincoln- Lincoln logs.

Khan- Ricardo Montalban, and then I think of Fantasy Island and '..da plane, da-plane'.

Nelson- The battleship HMS Nelson

Hannibal- Lector.

After the entire New York mob was indeed in the boot, I had it poored in concrete and sunk for the coast of Florida.

Cheers Haring
