I'm sick of ordering games online! Does anyone know where I can get board games in Arlington, TX. I live in Mansfield! I'm currently searching for Power Grid and El Grande. I don't want to trade!

I went out there in search of experience, to taste and to touch and to feel as much, as a man can before he repents...

I was down in Fort Worth in April and couldn't find a decent gamestore. Most I came across had around 40 games, but nothing too exciting. I don't remember Power Grid being at any of the stores I was in and El Grande was definately not there.

Here is a helpful link to stores in the area:

I hope you have better luck than I did!

Game Chest at Valley View Mall is the best store around by far. The selection is good but you pay full retail price. Call first to see if they have the game. El Grande is out of print so they won't have that one.

Generation X Comics in HEB (I forget which of the mid-cities) probanly has the best selection after Game Chest in Dallas. Both have many out of print games, but usually not the more popular ones.

I don't think that either has El Grande, but I don't know about Power Grid.

Since you specify Arlington in your subject line you should check out the best store in Arlington, that being the Lone Star on Abrams:

http://www.mycomicshop.com/ourstores/carlington.cfm

They have a good selection of games. I purchased my copies of Oceania and Saint Petersburg there.

I second the Lone Star Comics on Abrams. I think any gamer in the Metroplex area should at least know of it if they haven't been yet. Of course, there are other stores I haven't been to, but this one is a good one.

I usually go to Game Chest in Valley View mall if only for the selection...if I'm feeling lazy, I'll check Lone Star Comics on Abrams (I live in Arlington). I haven't tried Generation X yet. I also remember a place called Cosmic Comics in Grand Prairie on Beltline Road -- their selection was small, but when Chez Geek first came out, that was the only place that had it.

As an aside, I figured I would plug a couple of local boardgaming groups. On Thursday nights, the Thursday Night Metagamers meet at the America's Best Coffee on Matlock Road just a bit north of I-20. On Tuesdays, the Fort Worth Gamers meet at the Borders Books across the street from Hulen Mall. Both groups have a friendly atmosphere, and an ever-changing selection of games as people bring out their newest goodies to play. Tonight, I plan to bring Candamir to the table.

We welcome all players, and easily break into as many groups as needed to accomodate everyone. Games typically start around 7:00. Come play with us!

I work by Game Chest in valley view. They have Power Grid. The do not have El Grande. Once you see how much they want for Power Grid you will go back to ordering online.

The best game store IN Arlington I have found is Lone Star Comics on Abram. They have an OK selection. Not as focused as what you get at the Game Chest but it is OK. I live in Arlington and I go there first as their prices are usually better than Game Chest in Dallas.

The only other good source I have found is Gen X comics in the Mid Cities. High priced but they have some titles that Game Chest and Lone Star do not have.

On Thursdays I do not get off until 7 and do not get to Arlington until 8. I am talking one of my gaming buddies into checking it out although I wonder how late 8:00 will be for gaming.

On teusedays I get off at 6 and may check out the Borders group. I have been hearing about them for a while now.

don't forget that http://www.newspiel.com/

is actually here in DFW, and sometimes he lets you pick up the games instead of paying shipping.

His prices are also among the best of the online retailers.
