I'm going to be in the Hartford, CT area at the end of the month to visit my girlfriend's brother, and I figure I might as well take the opportunity to take a look at any of the local game stores. Can anyone recommend some Hartford area stores?

If you travel north up to Massachusetts that are some stores in the college town of Northampton that I'd suggest. Plus, there is a lot of other things to do in that city, clubs, music, book & record stores, 100+ restaurants, etc... that rival what Hartford and surronding has to offer.

Thanks, everybody.

That's quite a list. I'll do my best to hit as many as possible.

Time Machine in Manchester has a pretty good stock of Eurogames and wargames, including some things that are OP as far most online retailers are concerned. I've recently spotted Medina, Taj Mahal, and maybe even a copy of Lowenherz.

Time Machine is in process of moving the board games to a new area of the store - right at the moment the backstock of boardgames is way way in the back - well behind the RC car section.

I'm not sure that Fathers and Sons still exists.

War and Pieces in West Hartford is still there, but I understand that the gaming section there has been shrinking over the past few years.

I'm pretty sure you are right, which is too bad. They carried a good selection at good prices. I don't know what happened. I tried going by a few times over the past couple of years and it was never opened. I stoped trying.

Gary Stagliano, the gentleman who owned and ran Fathers & Sons passed away a few years back. Apparently it was a very sudden thing, I happened to see an annoucement on consimworld.com when it happened. I only stopped in there once as I was visiting my parents one Thanksgiving, he seemed like a nice guy, very friendly, seemed to be genuinely excited about games and wanted to steer you in the right direction to help you to find something you would enjoy.

He also designed a game listed here on the 'Geek...

That's really too bad; I had a feeling it was something like that. He definitely was a very nice guy. Gave me a GREAT deal once on a binder of an almost complete set of both limited and unlimited Middle Earth CCG, The Wizards and Dragons. I always tried to arrange trips near/past the area so I could stop in and give him some business.

I have eaten some Netrunner counters, a treasure token from Nemo's War, and a First Martians condition token. Also maybe a Fallout "L" token.

Someone will have to step up, then. I don't think it's legal to not live within 50 miles of a game/comic store called "Dragon's Lair".

I believe every game store from Bridgeport to Springfield and Worcester (basically CT, WMass) are out of business except for Time Machine Hobbies in Manchester. They are OK for top BGG games (although slow to restock), terrible for wargames unless you like A&A, Avalanche Press, or Memoir 44. MMP / ASL fans can skip this store entirely unless you hurry and get their one copy of FITS.

Northampton, Greenfield and Chelmsford MA have stores, Meriden CT has an ebay store, and the above mentioned Manchester, CT store. That is about all for gaming in southern New England outside Fairfield County. Anyone else find a store I may have missed? I heard Providence RI opened one up recently?
