Hi all ,

I will go to Japan on Jan 2012.
I will stay at Tokyo for 3 days and Hokkaido for 1 week.
Is there any information about the boardgame stores at these two places?

Thanks in advance

Evan

Hmm ... didn't visit one when I was there for a week, but if I was there now trying...

I'd try something like a department/book store in Shinjuku or a game store in Akihibara.

While in Tokyo I bought some games at Hakuhinkan Toy Park, in Ginza district.
Haven't been in Hokkaido. (Yet)

Biggest and best games store in Tokyo is Yellow Submarine in Akihabara. They have a few shops in Akihabara, however, and only one of the sells RPGs and board games. If you go on a Wednesday, you can play games there as well.

Tokyo stores:
Yellow Subamarine in Shinjuku sells board games, and it's quite close to Shosen bookmart, which is in Jimbocho. Note the prices are more expensive than the States but they have a nice variety of English board games.

Here is more information from our JIGG great leader Kevin

All the boardgames in Shosen Bookmart is now in Shosen Grande instead. You can go there in the same way of Bookmart, but in the half of the way to there, you can find Grande.

Talking about Jinbocho station, between there and Suidobashi station, you also can find Okuno Karuta-ten, Japanese traditional card game shop. I think it's worth to drop by

Good to know. Is the display better? I had trouble seeing the games all the way at the top shelves because they were all wrapped in plastic and there was a lot of glare.
I always end up stopping at the Warhammer shop along the way. Guilty!

I think it's better. At least, you can pick up every box without ladder

Thanks for the information regarding change of location for game store(Shosen Bookmart). I was delighted when I stumbled across the original store a couple of months ago.

BTW , do you know of any stores in Tokyo that sell Heroclix?

Regards

Jimmy
