My wife will be traveling to Estonia in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know of any game stores in Tallinn or the general vicinity? She also may visit Helsinki and/or St. Petersburg as well, so any suggestions in those cities would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

I don't now for sure what is the situation at our kind relatives, but I fear there is no such thing like a decent shop. soblue

But I suggest you to read the article about Estonia here, and about Finland, too.

games to be found in estonia are few and far between. if you go to the above mentioned link you will find my write-up on estonian gaming, there is also mention of finland. finland actually has at least one gameshop. i would suspect prices would be pretty high with limited selections, there are a number of finnish bgg so i would ask them.

all this being said if you want this opportunity to get some euros i would be more than happy to have them shipped to my adress (anywhere from a week to 3 depending on how you ship it) and your wife could pick them up in tallinn.estonia is part of the eu so there are no taxes or vat it would just be the price and shipping.

i order my games from two german websites www.playme.de (best prices, in german, i use babelfish to translate, 13 euros for up to 20kg shipping) and www.boardgame-shop.com (good selection and great prices of used and new, site is in english, outstanding service from fellow bgg, faster shipping). just make sure you do searches using german names. if you ask around here you will get a half dozen recommended sites to order from.

In Helsinki, there are exactly three stores:

Safe Haven, which is THE board game shop in Finland. They also sell some CCGs. Their address is Mikonkatu 8, second floor and they are open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. http://www.lautapelit.fi

Fantasiapelit, which sells mainly CCGs, RPGs, and miniatures. They also carry board games (with rather high prices, though), books, and comics. http://www.fantasiapelit.com/index.php?main=etusivu&lang=en

Games Workshop, which sells their own products.

Lautapelit.fi store can be found at Salomonkatu 5 these days. Open hours and website are still the same.
