I'm going to be staying in New York City's Times Square all next week on business and I was wondering if there were any good game stores in the area. I don't mind a short subway hop.

Thanks!

If I remember correctly, there is a "Compleat Strategist" near Empire State Building, in 11 East 33rd Street (between Madison and Fifth Avenue).

Compleat Strategist isn't like most shops, it has no 'hang out space' but is filled to the brim with games. There isn't even room in the aisles to fit two people abreast (at least the last time I was there). I've never been to Neutral Ground, but a couple of my friends like it.

Actually, as of two years ago (when I moved away), the Compleat Strategist DID have a hang out room through a door next to the check-out counter. A group a gamers calling themselves the Chitkickers used to meet there for light wargames and heavy Euros once a month on a Saturday and they probably still do! The gaming room was decidedly cluttered but cozy.

Gak - apologies for not searching. (One of those was my exact same question...)

Thanks for the info, however - I'm going to be working just a few blocks from Compleat Strategist, so I'm going to pay them a visit.

I'm back from New York - thanks for the tip on Compleat Strategist! What an amazing store!

I ended up needing to buy a duffle bag to cart my purchases home on the plane. Now if I can just find a way to sneak them into my expense report... devil
