Mayday Games is happy to announce that we have acquired the rights to bring Bootleggers back in print for the first time since its original 2004 printing. We will be releasing the updated game in late 2012 or early 2013. We need to thank Ray, Don, Mike and Steve at SDR Games for working with us. We would also like to thank Sean and the team at Eagle Games for working with us as well. They have graciously agreed to provide the original molds for the trucks, copper and influence markers (‘the Boys’) as well as helping us with the legal mumbo-jumbo required to make this happen. We will be working with Eagle to allow them to distribute the game to their loyal fans and have been very impressed with the kindness by both Eagle and SDR. One of the best things about this industry is the people who work in it, and this has never been more evident to us than throughout this process.

We are very excited about all the great extras and upgrades we have tentatively planned for the new release including:

The 2 double-influence cards
The 4 blank cards
Extra variants including a 2-player scenario
Improved trucks with easier-to-read numbering
More cash!
Revised rulebook
Full set of 6 colored dice for each player with more dice than before

We will be printing more of the double influence and blanks cards with this print run to allow any previous owners to get any replacements they need directly from Mayday.

We are also working on the much anticipated Expansion. This will involve the ending of prohibition and the transition from the speakeasy to higher-end casinos for each player. We will have some other exciting extras/upgrades available that we will announce later.

More details will follow soon!

Also money was a need. Before Eagle Games went off the sonor the first time, I was able to receive the double influence cards and extra money, for no charge. Is there a cost involved. I only need to get the blank cards to fill my game out, but others might need it all. Will it still be free for the missing components?

Yes Scott, the missing double influence cards and blank cards will be available at no cost. The cash is just to include more than was included originally and is more of an upgrade than a correction. The game came with as much as it was designed for, we are just including more in the reprint so you can never run out, even in a 6 player game.

We are still trying to finalize all the redesign details and will be sure to post the full specs and details as soon as we finalize them. I know SDR has been very diligent about addressing all the questions about the rules too.

I am happy, and proud, to be working with the SDR boyz and the crew at Eagle Games again, doing the artwork for the expansion of Bootleggers. I always loved this game (not just because it is adorned in Niemeyer art, but because it's an awesome game!!) and this is going to be a fantastic expansion of the timeline and the game itself...
We're back in the saddle BOYZ!!
Thanks for including me!

I once said, and I still believe, that a limited amount of money for Bootleggers is a thematic feature, not a bug. Can't collect because there's no cash? I guess the local economy can't support this many bars....

There must have been a moment at the beginning, where we could have said no. Somehow we missed it. Well, we'll know better next time.

Piece limitation in any game is definitely legitimate, and changes the game strategies in interesting ways.
In this case though I believe the designers and/or publisher said the money was not supposed to be limited.

The kickstarter is LIVE! The larger the response the larger the print run and the better the kickstarter stretch goals will be. There are already tons of upgrades/updates on the game and we think you'll be pleased!

True, though, this economy is quite underhanded and would not flinch to launder more of their own printed money into the economy.

Thematic as it is, it makes it nigh impossible for players to reach the 100 grand if all the money is gone with a very lackluster end game rounds getting to the 12 round total.
