I have the opportunity to run a CoH event for 5-10 players over six hours at a FLGS in a few weeks.

Any ideas on how to leverage the group for what is usually a 4 player max game.

Simply two sittings for a 4-player firefight?

Probably not enough time for a tourney.

Are the players familiar with the game or are you doing a demo event?

Try the Cherkasskoye firefight, it can be found on the Academy Games website. This firefight uses an entire copy of Storms of Steel and will play up to 8 people. I use this a lot.

Good Luck

Thanks guys. I think it will be mostly players with at least *some* experience. Ewe recommended Cherkassoye too. Although I don't have SoS, I have other players who do.

How are the command cards handled? All four of the sections for the firefight call for card use. Some #20 and less, some #30 and less.

Split the deck into 4. Works quite well.

Take lots of pictures and give us a writeup of how this goes. I'd love to see this thing take off.

Will do for sure. I had a lot of folks tell me they were interested in playing (10+) but now I need them to actually commit to the event!

Either way, something COH-related will happen on the 21st.

Finally got my SoS set last night. I suspect for this 8 player scenario everyone is pulling from the same set of hit tokens from the SoS set.

Is there enough to go around?

Sound right to you guys?

Looking to be a good event this weekend!

Yes, you can pull from the same hit pool and card deck. Or, if anyone has AtB or PoH, use those hit counters also.

Let me know if you need additional track sheets, since I can send you more! Have to know quickly though, so you had better call.

Thanks for the offer Uwe. From all my CoH products, I do have 8 tracking sheets. Were there four each in AtB and SoS? I can't remember, but I have 8.

If we open another table, my buddy Kris has a good number too. We can cover any shortcomings with print outs and/or iPads. Other players are bringing their sets as wel.

Should be fun!

Looks like we're going to have a nice mix of new and experienced players.

Ewe, you'll get a kick out of this, one of the marketing managers from Matrix games lives in the Chicago area. He's going to join us for some hands-on time with the physical version of the game. Also, he's bringing a laptop to show of the computer version.

Love it!

How does pulling the same hit counters from the same group work with eight people? All eight pull from the same bunch of counters, so I guess the likelyhood of pulling the auto kill counter goes up. It seems it would work better with more than one batch. Anyone every done this?

We just completed our event and by all measures it was a great success!

Here are a few quick pictures with more to come along with a write up in the next few days.

Thanks to everyone here for their help and suggestions

Ty

Great pictures! Can I post one or two on our website?
I like the red and blue hit counter bowls!

Thanks for the feedback. Working on a fuller write up later today.

Sure you can use the photos. I'll send you a link with a collection you can choose from.

Or you could wait and link to the blog post etc. . .

I just need a bit more time to recover from a long, but fun, day yesterday!

Since The Battle of Cherkasskoye is technically a Storms of Steel firefight, I've posted the write-up there.
