The only one I know of is on Bold Street - Forbidden Planet. Sadly they don't carry a great range.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

There was a game shop in Parr St which closed a few years ago; Gamecraft. Until I saw this, I thought Liverpool was devoid of a specialist games shop (GW doesn't count - EVER!); so have a geekgold as a token of my appreciation.

I'll have to pop in there next time I'm up that way.

It is well worth a visit but the range of games is fairly limited, the place seems to be primarily a cafe that hosts CCGs, Roleplayers, Wargamers and Boardgamers.

They held a full day for Boardgamers (shared with CCGers) one Sunday a while back, which was fun. The boardgamers ate them out of food (CCGers seem generally to be a pasty-faced, skinny lot). I don't think we will have to share the next time they organise a boardgames day.

Good call. Didn't know this existed either. You know, for such a big city, Liverpool doesn't offer much in gaming. I usually trog over to Manchester and visit Fan Boy 3. Wait I just remembered - if the O.P has transport then shoot through the Wallasey Tunnel and head for Brimstage Hall where there is a game shop there. He sells a lot of wargammer stuff (FOW,Wh etc) but also has a good selection of board games. Plus there are a few other shops so you can have a coffee before returning to the 'Pool !

It was nice to discover that there was more gaming interest in Liverpool. I remember in years gone by visiting a shop in an old building in Liverpool filled with little niche interest shops, but that disappeared some time ago. Other than that, there was GW and Forbidden Planet, but nothing more.

I found out about it through Fanboy3's Facebook page actually as they are having an interstore MtG event. It seems to include a shop in Preston (Harlequins?) and Patriot Games in Leeds.

Anyway, I would heartily recommend a trip over to Manchester to Fanboy3 if you can make it. It's a great shop and the people there are very friendly and Dave carried a HUGE range of stock. (Watch out for the Pokemon players though, they're just a bit weird...)

Hey guys, unfortunately I have to concur with the conclusions here Liverpool has little in the way of a formal games shop.

I was interested to read about Brimstage Hall in Wallasey - would love to hear more about this.

Also in Wallsay near Seacombe ferry terminal (on Borough Road) there is Second Chance Games - although you need to ring Andy before you arrive - he does most of his business by mailorder and the shop door is nearly always locked these days.

The Scythe and Teacup has links to Esdevium and other game suppliers (Gamecraft now operates out of a industrial unit in Bootle supplying games to game companies - "trade" only now I am told).

Shire Games in Stoke is the preferred option for many of us buying games in the Liverpool Area. This sounds a bit silly but then Nick and Sue at Shire Games support many games days that we attend. Plus orders over 50 quid escape postage and Shire Games have some great priced games.

cheers
Ste
Liverpool Lion (Boardgamers)

Since this thread still pops in on the big searches I thought I would say that Liverpool does now once again (well for 2 years) have a great games store although I maybe biased

Anyway check us at loads of games for sale and space to play!

If you can get out of the city and up the coast, there's also War Games on Lord Street in Southport. As well as lots of lovely games, they have miniatures painting and gaming tables set up, and I believe there's an upstairs which also gets used for gaming on occasions.
