Just wondering where the good game shops are in Chicago. I will be at the Hyatt on Wacker drive and wondering if there is anything around that area. Thanks

I am not sure if there are any real game stores in the downtown area. If you take the metra commuter line to mount prospect, there is a store called games plus (www.games-plus.com) It's probably the best in the north suburbs (IMHO).

Mike: No question. Take the Metra to Games Plus. You will not be disappointed.

A "game shop" close to you is Gamers Paradise, in Water Tower Place (level 5, if memory serves). Water Tower Place is at the corner of Michigan and Pearson (850N, 100E). Their floor/shelf space works out to about 30% family games (Risk/Stratego/Trivial Pursuit and licensed variations thereof), 20% casino supplies, 20% jigsaw/other puzzles, 10% the games you're likely interested in (Ticket to Ride, Puerto Rico, Steve Jackson card games etc.), 15% roleplaying/miniatures/CCG's, and 5% "Other." The part you want, in the words of Jim Garrison, is back and to the left.

There is another one, whose name I forget constantly, located inside Navy Pier (500N, 500E), just past the "stage" atrium near the west entrance. One or two shelves of decent games, sometimes heavily discounted. Not much of a selection, though. I was toying with the idea of picking up one or two things when I was last there, but ChiTAG was going on, and I thought better of it.

I would find a sports bar and enjoy the Chicago scene as they get ready to win their first World Series since 1917.

That would be "Go The Game Store". They have a few Rio Grande, Mayfair, FFG, and DoW games.

Level 4 actually. Their Eurogames section keeps getting smaller and smaller. Was just there today, and they have a sale through Sunday the 23rd of October: buy one item, get second half off.
