All reality is a game. Physics at its most fundamental, the very fabric of our universe, results directly from the interaction of certain fairly simple rules, and chance; the same description may be applied to the best, most elegant and both intellec

and aesthetically satisfying games. By being unknowable, by resulting from events which, at the sub-atomic level, cannot be fully predicted, the future remains malleable, and retains the possibility of change, the hope of coming to prevail; victory.

This is a math trade that will be held with the occasion of the Lautapelaamaan 2012 event in Helsinki, 2-4 November 2012. Participants are expected to bring their items to the event for exchange, or otherwise make arrangements.
http://www.lautapelaamaan.fi/

Ask questions, request games, write love letters here.

The GeekList:
Lautapelaamaan 2012 Math Trade

The deadlines:
Deadline to add games: Wednesday, 10 October 2012, 23:00
Deadline to submit want lists: Wednesday, 17 October 2012, 23:00

---------------

STATUS: DONE - RESULTS ARE FINAL

---------------

Prizes!

To encourage early participation, I am giving out some prizes:
I will carry something small that you want to buy from Spiel 2012 back to Finland
If 300 items are added to the GeekList before October 1, 30
If 500 items are added to the GeekList before October 1, 50

The winners will be chosen via public GeekRoll. Each item that was added before October 1 and traded earns one chance to win.

---------------

Do not give or send any games yet!
All participants have now 24 hours to report any problems to me.

THE RESULTS ARE FINAL
You may freely trade.

To keep a minimum level of transparency, it would be good to use the BGG trade manager to leave feedback for each other. This increases the trade rating for each one of us and keeps us honest. It also projects an image of an honest trader to others you may trade with in the future

Please make sure that you have marked the items traded as "for trade" so that they show up in the BGG trade manager.

--

To use the trade manager, click on http://bgg.activityclub.org/olwlg/trades-summary.cgi?listid=..., scroll down to find your trades, and we click on the nickname of the user receiving one of our games.

For example, _mrq_ will click on the word "barber" where it says "-- 1. gives "Heli Hopper (40)" to barber (199) ".

The general rule is for the one giving the game to initiate the trade, but if he is late or forgets, the receiver can do it too.

---

After the games have been exchanged, I leave feedback in the trade manager in the following format, feel free to copy it:
||| Lautapelaamaan 2012 Math Trade /// GAME /// Received: DATE /// Packing: DESCRIPTION (e.g. cardboard box, styrofoam) OR "N/A - face to face meeting" /// Condition: DESCRIPTION |||

To those who you only send games, you can just simply write:
I was a sender in the Lautapelaamaan 2012 Math Trade.

---

Ευχαριστώ!

All reality is a game. Physics at its most fundamental, the very fabric of our universe, results directly from the interaction of certain fairly simple rules, and chance; the same description may be applied to the best, most elegant and both intellec

"Who wanted mine", official wants and results summaries are now live on OLWLG. These are useful for those that want to go and do individual side trades after the end of the MT.

After feedback from some past participants, these dates were set to allow time before Lautapelaamaan for side trades, for a possible auction, and because I am going to Essen.

I am holding a lottery, and one lucky MT participant can ask me to bring one small-size (small Alea box - e.g. San Juan or smaller) item back from Essen. The winner must still pay for the item, I am just the courier to Finland.

To be eligible for the lottery, a participant must:
- have added games to the list before October 1st according to the GeekList entry's "Posted" timestamp.
- have traded at least one of those games.

Participants obtain 1 chance to win for each game that they added before October 1 that traded.

What about non-boardgame/money in the trade? I have a few DVD:s I could bundle together and some RPG stuff, are they ok to add? I don't expect much interest in them, but who knows.

Sure. Money, as always, and as stated in the instructions is allowed, and in fact encouraged.

Ok, I meant non-boardgame/non-money, was a bit unclearly written. Since I didn't notice any mention of other items I thought it's best to ask first.

So ok, I'll add what I have and see what happens. I'll probably trade the DVDs for almost anything.

I was thinking the other way around about the deadline to submit lists. I'm away for the Essen week and also be attending the Spiel. It would be easier to submit the want list after the Spiel because you don't what you're going to find there and bring back.

Nevertheless I'll probably will going to have a hard time submitting between 13. and 22.10. Well I have to do it straightaway then on the 10th.

Well, I thought exactly about Essen because I am going and I coordinated with the Spiel MT moderator about this.

I just thought that for any given game it is easier to trade in Helsinki than carrying it to Essen, and then carrying what I got back to Finland, using luggage space and weight that could be used for new releases, promos, even clothes .

There's also not enough time between Essen and Lautapelaamaan to allow for side trades, for the traditional huutokauppa, and for allowing those not coming to Helsinki to ask their friends to carry their games, and have time to hand them over.

About submitting, do you mean that you will not have internet access from 13.10. to 17.10.? Essen starts on 18.10. in any case.

I think you misunderstood me. I was thinking that I might buy something from Essen which can be found in this math trade also. So I would know after Spiel what my current collection state is and then submit the tradelist. This is a problem created by-myself for my-self so you can disregard this.

But the other half of the problem is that I'm going on a business trip from 13. to 19.10. and it's better to assume that I don't have internet readily available there. So I'll just submit the list before my trip.

Ah ok, I get it now - sorry, I was in my own world for a minute.

Btw, you can always re-submit want lists as many times as you want if you get a chance - I frequently change my mind all the way to the last minute.

The draw will occur via public GeekRoll.

From the dept. of ironic typos, I have this to report:

"Languange" =/= Language

Apologies to those who copied & pasted my own original error.

Also, on a more serious point, you might want to bundle up your games to make them more attractive, especially if they are ranked quite low...

Did I understand this correctly, If I want to trade a game and expansions for it, I do it by adding the game and then adding the expansions as sweeteners? Or do I add them as the sort of big bundle entry using Outside the Scope of BGG?

Yes, yes and yes. Adding a game + sweeteners is basically the same as a bundle using the "Outside the scope" item. So it's up to you. In my case it was a lot of unrelated games, but if yours are more related, then you could go the sweeteners route.

The deadline to add games to the GeekList has passed. You may now submit your want lists in OLWLG. For instructions, please refer to the GeekList header.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask them in this thread. Others may have the same question, and it saves time.

For questions about specific games, please add a comment under that specific GeekList item. If the person offering the game does not answer, the entry is coloured red in OLWLG.

Again, if in doubt, ask. The trade will not be reprocessed for anyone not having read the instructions, or not asking if they didn't understand them.

Important:

If you do not see all the games in OLWLG, please check to see if this appears on the top of the page, and click appropriately:
Quote:
You are only viewing new items added since you last viewed this page. If you would like to view the entire list click here

Also, check to see if the following appears at the bottom of the page, and click appropriately:
Quote:
After you are done with this step you may want to make one more pass viewing only items that are on your wish/want/etc lists, to do so click here

Hello folks, sincere apologies for the 10 hour delay. After 48 hours of no sleep and Essen excitement, I hit the sack last night with nary a thought about the MT.

Please see the top of the thread and report any issues to me.
