The big problem with the game is the variance in the bonus tiles and the strong first player advantage (made stronger by some really good bonus tiles). Essentially, this is a game where you don't want to be last... thus, players will draw cards over-and-over again in order to avoid ending the round themselves, and thus going last. If you play with competitive people on BSW... it's not uncommon for the draw-deck to be recreated and the whole process starts again.
That would had been exactly the issue with the game, had it not been for Graecia and Germania. The presence of two hand-size civilization changes a lot in the equation. If we are in mid-game and I am anticipating one of these two, I will happily end the round myself with as few cards as possible, to benefit the most out of it.
Having said that, sometimes it backfires and you're just left with 1-2 cards and a full board to begin with, in the next round. But, when it works out, it's really good.
